Topic: Event Pokemon.

I'm a 20 year old pokemon fan, I've been playing ever since I received a gameboy colour and pokemon blue for my 10th birthday. I currently own every iteration of pokemon ever released, and multiple versions of most consoles (2ds, 3ds, Dsi etc..), and have completed the national pokedex at least once on every generation.
What saddens me as a long time pokemon fan is that I can never, ever truly complete the pokedex. I understand the purpose of these event legendaries, and I completely agree that they shouldn't be easy to obtain. What I cannot abide however, is that long term fans (such as myself) and newcomers to the world of pokemon are prevented from ever catching every pokemon because somewhere down the line they missed an event. What is the message nintendo is trying to convey to it's customers? "We're sorry you couldn't afford to buy pokemon B/W at release, sorry but you can never have a victini and can't complete your pokedex". "We're sorry you missed an event six years ago that was only available in Japan, you can never have a mew and finish your pokedex". "Sorry you don't have internet connection, you can never receive any of the pokemon we've handed out over wifi". It's an unfortunate situation from a company known for excellent fan service.
This leaves the only options available to players cheating through gameshark or action replay, which cheapens the experience completely, or using the GTS, which is impossible as someone made the decision to allow people to ask for pokemon that are 100% impossible to obtain (level 7 and under legendaries etc.).
What I would suggest, is that in a similar vein to the "GameFreak" characters in each game, these event legendaries appear as you finish the pokedex. What I mean by this is; say I load up pokemon X/Y, and capture every pokemon from the Kanto region, Mew would appear in my game as a roaming legendary. If I capture every pokemon from the Unova region, Keldeo, Genesect and Meloetta would appear as roaming legendaries in my game.
This would allow hardcore fans to fully complete their pokedex without cheating, or waiting for events that may never happen again (Mew, Deoxys, Arceus) while still having these pokemon remain incredibly exclusive and challenging to obtain.

So, what are people's thoughts on this?

Event legendaries are not counted towards pokedex completion.

Also, that's why we have online trading.

They may not be counted towards in game completion, but to me it matters.
And as I said, online trading is 100% impossible through the GTS, and I've never personally met anyone willing to trade these pokemon away.

Several people can effortlessly clone and give them away.

Yeah, you don't need event Pokemon to complete the dex.

What bugs me more about event Pokemon is that a lot of them, including some which are supposed to be general purpose events, never make it out of Japan. I mean, look at some of the event Pokemon in 5th gen that Japan got and no one else did:

-14th movie Shiny Hydreigon/Golurk
-1st gen starters' Hidden Abilities
-3rd gen starters' Hidden Abilities
-Year of the Dragon shiny egg
-Pokemon Conquest Shiny Rayquaza
-16th movie Shiny Genesect (this one is especially outrageous because none of the other regions got much of an opportunity to get it. Normally they distribute it to all games in all regions, but without this event, the only way to get Genesect was to buy BW2 within one month of release and as a result, not a lot of people were able to get their hands on it)

And then America never got Pikachu's HA, and even 6th gen we missed the Electabuzz/Magmar serial code event.

I don't care that there's event Pokemon, it's not that hard to keep up. But I do want to see more equality and accessibility, outside of Japan they only do events once in a blue moon and we don't always get a good opportunity to get certain event Pokemon.

Event Pokémon are meant to stir up hype. It's only fair to people who buy the game at launch to get special Pokémon. I got Black and White at launch and got the Celebi with itt, although I got that on my Platinum copy and then never transferred it

As for some being only in Japan, I don't like it, but that comes with the territory. Game made in a certain country: Certain country gets special stuff.

I get that Japan has more because it's more popular. The point I was making is that there was no reason for those events to be Japan only, they were all tailored to movies or games that were released worldwide, or general purpose events that aren't tied to anything in Japan. It shows that the team in charge of localizing events is falling down on the job.

Eh, Unless the pokemon or item can not be obtained anywhere else in never... I don't really mind those events that much.

I mean, I won't use the 'mons anyway because "they are special and must stay unspoiled" and my pokedex is already filled and stored in Pokebank so eh.

Most of the events aren't that great to hype for.. they usually never have the right nature or IVs.. just shininess, item, or forme.. like pokeball vivillon, it's just sitting in my pokebank.. while my competitive bred garden one is terrorizing passerbys.

I hate not getting event pokemon. When heartgold/Soulsilver came out in Japan I pre-ordered a Japanese copy so I could get the events in Japan but I can't do that anymore because of region locking. Pokemon is just as popular here as it is Japan. Yeah we might not have the number of people Japan has but why does that matter when it comes to events. They are free.

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

Eel

Most Japanese events happen in fixed locations, mostly theme parks, cinemas and pokemon centers.

Giving them out freely via wifi to the rest of the world would only cheapen the events.

Yeah I get that but how about this? If when they release the movie on dvd, they include a serial code for the same Pokemon that was given at said event.
