Another one of these doom and gloom and woe is me threads. Didn't you know it only had one analogue pad when you bought it?

Didn't you know? Gamers are an ungrateful bunch.

  • The N64 only had 1 analog stick.
  • Sony responded with the DualShock controller, which had 2 analog sticks.
  • Did gamers then demand that Nintendo put a second stick on the N64 controller? No. They accepted it and moved on.

It is something worth complaining about when that shovelware crowds out the good games in stores.

That's my point, I really don't think it is. It's not like having "Petz Partiz" on the shelf stops you from picking up Okamiden, The World Ends With You, Mario & Luigi, Mario Kart, Advance Wars, New SMB, Pokemon etc, etc. If a good game sells out or if it goes out of print and become obscure then that's a different problem altogether. The fact that these shovelware games are always "crowding out the shelves" while the gems are one or two copies hidden in the middle kinda says it all doesn't it?

Yes, yes it did. At least, it prevented me from buying them from the stores, which is my prefered shopping method. It made it too much of a hassle to find anything worthwhile in the stores. Now I don't even look at the Wii section anymore, since it's far easier to assume it's all crap than to spend a half an hour trying to find that one good game. It's not just not worth it. Basically, where I live, outside of gamestop, most of the good stuff gets crowded out in physical stores. Judging from the complaints of others, I'm not alone. So yeah, it is worth complaining about, because it is a problem.

Speaking of which, I don't get what people have against complaining in general. Why should I have to put up with problems in the products that don't meet my expectations? Maybe people say it's unproductive, but if you don't voice your complaints, how are they supposed to get fixed? To me, it seems more like people can't handle others criticizing the products they like.

As for me I'm not going to stop complaining until Nintendo fixes itself. The fact I have such a long history with Nintendo and it was a big part of my childhood is precisely why I am so bitterly disappointed with how it's performing as a business now.

You guys should be thankful for the investors, journalists and people who complain in public and in forums. At least they're trying to encourage Nintendo to make better products. In that way, they're the real Nintendo fans. The people that say "oh the eShop is better! oh the online is better! oh, Nintendo just needs to release Mario and the 3DS will rock," should realise that being sheep doesn't achieve anything. Substandard product is substandard. You have a responsibility as a fan to let Nintendo hear your displeasure.

Really?

I was simply stating that it's a free market and shitty shovelware should be allowed to exist on shelves. I think it's ridiculous that people think that's something to complain about and it's just as ridiculous as some indie kid chucking a tantrum in the alternative section because they spotted Nickelback. Did anybody ever consider that people like some of this stuff? That maybe Carnival Games sold so well because it's actually a pretty good game for the kids under 10 who got it?

There's a range of good and crap and nobody is forcing you to buy the crap if you think it's crap. If you refuse to go to the major stores because they have the nerve to stock something other than the AAA titles then that's your problem, not Nintendo's problem, not the stores problem. The fact that people don't see these sort of things as problems doesn't make them blind sheep and fanboys...... it just means they have better things to do then complain about how hard it is or isn't to find games.

I mean really, this is a portable video games console. Even when the online component of Smash Bros failed hard, the most depressing failure from Nintendo in recent years, it's not like it was the end of the world. It would have been nice if it didn't but... so what? The game was still fun and if it wasn't then big deal. So I'm sorry on behalf of every "Nintendo fanboy" here for enjoying the games that I enjoy on these systems that I bother to put money down for.

You're entitled to enjoy them. Just as we're entitled, as Nintendo fans, to say that Nintendo is not doing a good job. If a puppy poops on your carpet you still love the puppy, but you don't want the puppy to do that again, either. Nor are you especially pleased with the puppy at that point in time.

I fell for the Conduit 2 hype... never again. That game was a lame Halo-meets-Half Life clone. Terrible voice acting, bad dialogue, horrible sound effects (Mr. Ford's grunting and melee sounds made me want to mute the volume every time), repetitive level design. The only thing that made the game worthwhile was the controls.

Some guy on IGN hade a good idea. If Nintendo does announce a new 3DS before 201, ambassadors should be able to send theirs into Nintendo and be able to get it for a discounted price and have all data be transferred to the new model.
I honestly don't know if this is possible or realistic but whatever

You're taking it the wrong way. It's not the fact that shovelware exists that's the problem. It's the amount that stores bring in that's a problem, especially on Nintendo consoles specifically. The PSP and PS3 have tons of shovelware, but the percentage of quality games vs Shovelware in the stores around here for those systems is actually far better - I find myself drooling over all the quality games that those systems have. There's way less crap on the shelves than the DS and the Wii, which has so much that it makes finding good games difficult. That is what people are complaining about.

Well, Mickeymac has a point. In Best Buy, however, it's split even- heck, the shovelware games has it's own shelf vs budget games which I find funny. Walmart and them other stores though.. lots of crap, but most crap on not on the display cases. Rather, a whole separate shelf sharing space with quality budget games (or games that dropped to $20).

Everytime I walk into a game store and look for a game for the Wii, you know what I see.
Rows and rows of shovleware, its a down right embarrassment to even be there.
I can see why the Wii area is so clean, no one comes here.
And you know whats even worst, it hurts good Wii games when there shove in with all the other crap.
Does Nintendo even know there games like this?
Or is Nintendo punishing us for being their fans?
I didn't buy the Wii so I can play mini-games fested party games or learn how to dress a pretty pony!
I mean, even Nintendo is making shoveware games, Wii Music? really?
All I can said is: After 2008. the Wii died, since they didn't make any good since SmashBros.

The future of Nintendo is going to be nothing but remakes, since they ran out of ideas.

Oh my god. I've never seen you debate with such a big wall of text before. And for the most part I agree with you.

Walking into a Gamestop or a third party retailer, looking at the Wii section makes you look a little fruity. Embarrassed even, and do you realize how long it took me to find games like Klonoa and Little Kings Story? Forever. Want to know how many copies of Guitar Hero and Wii Fit I could have? 13. 14...

But your "point" of Nintendo being dead since 2008 is a little drastic. I could sit here and list all the games that have came out since then that have blown people away from innovation and overall quality, but I think you already know.

Just for you.
