@CapricornDavid: If I recall I don't think any of the games had all characters available from the beginning. I do know in 3 and 4 that's a fact but I'm a little foggy on the first 2.

@Spoony_Tech: I only got into the series with 4, so I don't know about anything before that. But if it's a trend, I suppose it's going to happen again in 5. No biggie.

Can't believe I missed information on EOV. The character creation trailer looked awesome. There are so many options. I have a feeling I will fiddle with that feature for a good while. The new designs are really great. From the gameplay I've seen, I am interested in this Union feature. I wonder if this will be a combined attack with the same type of race or if any race can union with the others. The multitude of voices is pretty nice but I am worried that the localization team would trim the voices down or just not put in much effort. I haven't played EOUII, but the voice acting, (especially Arianna) just wasn't doing it for me. I wouldn't mind an english dubbing, but I hope they put some effort into it. I am hoping that a western release isn't too far off from the eastern release. I want to go into EOV as blind as possible. So if there is a huge gap between the japanese and english version, I think I'd crack and spoil myself rotten. Either way, I am just happy we got more info on this game. I can't wait to pick it up.

Yup, it's always been so. In Etrian Odyssey 1 you unlocked the Rounin and Hexer after beating Ren and Tlachtga, and then in Etrian Odyssey 2 you - optionally - unlocked the Beast by the end of the first Labyrinth stratum.

@LinkSword: Thanks, it's been so long but I was pretty sure they were somehow tied to the story as well.

New video showing off the character creator in a bit more detail. Nothing really new in this, but my goodness, listen to that music! This is going to be another EO game with a really enchanting OST.

Can't wait! My only regret is it most likely won't be till next year. I also wonder how Sega taking over may affect localization.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm partial to the tough looking girl with the eyepatch in terms of the illustrations.

I'm more of a fan of the other girl model, as she looks like my usual Fortress/Hoplite unit. If I get a Dragoon for the team I'll probably pick that one with an orange-ish hair color and call her Galatea all over again.

I love the little bits of voice acting you can select from. They're going to give the battles a pretty personal touch.

Well since it's a dragoon class I'm more impartial to making him look like Kain for FFIV. 😛

Well, after today's article. I am worried this may not make it to any other country, since Atlus is being absorbed into Sega. "sigh"...the lose of so many good games.

I'm not worried one bit. This will come stateside I'll bet on that.

@Spoony_Tech: Is it more of a Europe issue at this point? Because, in most of the articles it kept saying this would affect the US publications also.

I think it means we won't see many NIS America games anymore but I don't think they even localize Atlus games to begin with. If we are to believe Sega then things should be as usual here stateside just with Sega's name all over it. I do have some concern with that part as I don't fully trust Sega to do Atlus USA's part.

Okay I completely misread those articles...NIS America, does not even publish much for the 3DS here in the US much less, most of their games are for the PS side....SO, that is my fault for misreading that. Etrian and SMT and others are all by the other companies and not NIS America, for the US side of things...SO again, my fault for misreading the article.

@scubydo: The 3ds wouldn't be the same without Atlus. They've made the system my favorite ever. They almost have as many releases as Nintendo does on their own system so I feel for you. Would hate to lose 3ds Atlus games.

Yeah the Atlus games have really given the 3DS its lasting power for me anyways. I enjoy their RPGs...aside from the occasional Pokemon or Monster Hunter and few other minor titles. It just doesn't have the staying power without Atlus...I mean they even helped boost the DS into the RPG realm. The possibility of them ceasing to release games here in the US like Europe is a bit scary, because they will loose a lot of support from fans.

A demo for this game recently released in Japan. It's a large chunk of the game. I hope they release this over here at some point (the demo, obviously, since the game has already been confirmed, and we've yet to miss out on an Etrian title, to my knowledge). Haven't we got a demo for every one of the 3ds games so far. I'm not worried, we should get it. Thanks for this post though, need some EO in my life! Its been far too long and Persona Q only fueled that flame.

I'm surprised they didn't announce Etrian Odyssey Untold 3 this year. But yeah, I'm ready for another proper Etrian game.
