Topic: eShop aggravation

I just recharged my eShop account, and now my eShop is not working!

It comes up with Error Code: 005-4240

Anyone know what the deal is? Is it something that can be fixed? FRUSTRATED....

On another note....I have experienced hardrive meltdowns and memory stick losses on my computers and memory sticks....is there any way to protect my system information and games if a similar thing happens to my 3DS? I have pumped a fairly considerable sum of $$$ into the eShop already, and I am becoming paranoid!

Hello Reenie, sorry to hear that you are experiencing these problems. I looked up the error code that you are getting and that particular code(005-4240) comes up when the eShop is overloaded with traffic and cannot be accessed at the given time. In other words, too many people are trying to access the eShop so your best bet would be to try accessing it again later. I hope this information helps.

If your 3DS breaks you can send it in to Nintendo who can repair it and should be able to recover/restore any data that was lost. There's no way to make a "back up" of any games/data that I know of but some of our forum users may know better

You can store your games on your computer by transferring the data from your SD card, and keeping a back-up there. If you went and got another system and tried to put those backed up games on your 3DS however, they would not work.

If you do happen to lose all your games, as James said, you can send it in and you will have your old account back, though you most likely will have to download everything again.

I have never seen the error before; no idea why so many people are trying to access the eShop between 8pm and 10pm on a Tuesday night >:-/ but hey, I am so I suppose it is not so unusual >:-/ Hope it clears soon. I am eager to spend more $$$!

Yes you can. You just need a computer and a way to read SD cards.

hmmm maybe I will look for some high capacity sd cards online while I wait for the eShop to work...seems a little late at night for such high usage...could it be something else?

I was just on the Eshop about a half an hour ago, it worked fine. It seemed like the server(s) were overloaded when you tried.
