After playing the demo I find it a bit boring. A little too easy and the painting really kills the pace. Think I'll hold off til it hits the bargain bin.

You're not guided through the first few minutes of the game as with other demos, you must solve and complete the first few levels of the game, taking as much time as you want to do so.
Some parts of it do look a little bit unpolished and having to use the touch screen every 5 seconds was annoying, but I liked it.
Also, at least in spanish, the intro clearly specifies this is the same castle of illusion from the old game and Mickey remembers he has been there.
I agree with the rest of you that feel the painting element takes away from the game. It's a cool concept but I wish it didn't need to happen every 30-seconds or so - it really does slow things down quite a bit. Other than that, the demo was pretty good. The visuals are vibrant and reminiscent of an SNES game which was probably the highlight for me.
I'm having a fun time playing this demo as well. I am not a fan of the painting parts though. I don't like having to pick up the stylus every 60 seconds or so to draw/paint something just so I can continue platforming. But overall, I'm pleased with this. Probably my favorite demo I've played on the 3DS. Now, to find out when it's going to be released.
November 18th
Same day as the Wii U. Honestly the painting parts didnt bother me the one thing that did was using the thinner I seemed to run out of that quickly.
Yes, it was the thinner that I kept running out of... D:
I really need a stylus that has more grip to it. My sweaty fingers keep slippin' n slidin'
I liked the demo enough to consider a purchase.
Now, I think they could have used more layers of depth. 90% of the time there are pretty much just two: foreground and background.
Also, those who played Monster Tale will find some familiar elements, like the shop (which works exactly the same way), or how enemies defeated using the melee combo attack fall off the screen spinning. There's no doubt it's the same developer, heh.
I really enjoyed the demo. I really wish there was more voice acting though as I really think it would set it apart from most platformers just from that. Loved the visuals but even on the XL the characters seems tiny. I would hate to see this on a regular 3ds now. Game play is slow going but I don't mind that to much as long as it remains fun for me. I like the fortress part as it give a bit of an RPG feel. Do things for the other characters then they offer up upgrades or special items to help on your journey! I wasn't planing on getting this but now at least its on my radar!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
Didn't like the demo.Here's why I didn't like it:
1.)Using paint and thinner isn't as good as it was in the original. You could make enemies die or make them join you. That gave you a bit more options.
2.)It was inaccurate. Most little girls probably don't forget Tangled or Beauty in the Beast,so why would the Beast(IDK his real name) and Rapunzel be in Wasteland?
3.)Mickey was a bit too slow for me.
4.)Disney!If Netfilx can put movies and TV shows on the 3DS,then you can put REAL cutscenes in the game.
5.)I didn't see that many OLD characters.6 year olds aren't the only people who like Epic Mickey, guys.

That's the point, that they aren't old. The story is that Mizrabel (or however it's properly spelled) has been cast into Wasteland, but has kidnapped popular characters whom have hearts in order to collect their "heart power" and return her and her castle to the normal Cartoon World.
And out of curiosity, does it appear to anyone else that Power of Illusion takes place post-Disney Epic Mickey 2? They mentioned the quakes (which have been alluded to being in the second game) and "THE TV," which the intro video for 2 shows gus making a contact device out of a TV.

Isn't Mizrabel in Sleeping Beauty?I thought kids still remembered that movie. Not to mention people who are older.

That's Maleficent, and no, she's not a forgotten character. Mizrabel seems to be a shapeshifter.
You can clearly see Mizrabel changing shapes several times when you meet her before deciding to use Maleficent as her avatar.
It is also stated in the demo that she kidnapped famous characters to steal their life force and become stronger herself. (and that all other villains are actually illusions made by her to hurt you).

1) Agree with that and the fact that I kept running out of thinner.
2) The reason they were in Wasteland is because that villian captured them and took them there. (you must have missed that part of the story)
3) Didnt really notice that
4) I think they were trying to go for that nostalgia 16 bit era feeling and if they added full animated cutscenes it would have ruin that feeling.
5) I saw Peter Pan, Wendy, Beast, Scar, the Evil Queens from Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, Scrooge Mc Duck, Captain Hook Goofy and Jiminy Cricket. Compare that too Rapunzel who is a somewhat new character there were a ton of older Disney Characters.
Are you sure you were playing the Epic Mickey demo??

This was one of the best demos I've ever played for 3ds in a long while. Really thought the demo was well done, it's certainly a unique platformer just like the original but in 2D form.
Wii U online games: Mario Kart 8, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Need 4 Speed: Most Wanted U
I played the demo. It was pretty fun, although I'm not a fan of the "buttons + force you to take out the stylus every few seconds" control scheme. Of course, maybe that's just with my current "non-XL" 3DS where the stylus is placed in the most inconvenient spot possible.
So, now that the demo is out in NA, here's my Quickie Review (Trademark of Philip DeFranco):
Although a little slow, Mickey controls well
No "real" cutscenes, but that didn't seem to bothersome to me
(I've only been recently introduced to what is referred to as "Next-gen," meaning that before two or three years ago, I hadn't experienced such a wide variety of games, and was mostly limited to Nintendo's popular franchises, like Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon. The reason for this is because we had localization issues where I used to live. Plus, there's this BS law called 101, which states that everything MUST be translated to French before being sold of the "local" market. So yeah, that severely crippled the gaming industry where I used to live.)
I wish A was jump, and B was attack. My childhood programmed those settings by default in my brain. Not saying the controls are bad, but it took me a second or two to get used to.
The "stylus fetching" could potentially get a little awkward, but not too big of an inconvenience
The 3D effects are a little lazy (On the same level as NSMB 2 on 3DS, whre the background has depth. However, it seems there was more effort put into this than NSMB 2)
The gameplay was fluid, and suits players of all caliber. I'm only at the beginning right now, but I'm sure it gets progressively harder
Overall, I'd say a solid: 8/10
I'd recommend it if:
You're looking for an original, non-mario platformer
You like Disney characters for either the nostalgia factor or any other potential reason
You want a somewhat slower game, but nonetheless a great platformer
You're not looking for overly complicated gameplay (looking at you, TWEWY. You were fun, but so tiring on the hands...)
