I'm too worried that it will mess up my StreetPass data somehow though. And i don't really need them for anything right now.
I used to always have 290 play coins spending the ten i get every day on Street Fighter IV figurine points.
Until i got Dead Or Alive Dimensions. There i spent my whole 300 coins at once because i'm too worried that this has something to do with the DLC. Once i figure out i'm not missing everything i guess i'll start stockpiling them again. It just feels better to be prepared for something you really need the coins for.
I refuse to use them on the StreetPass games yet because i want to get everything there with actual StreetPasses. Even if i won't finish it until the next gen Nintendo handheld comes out.

lol thank you finally someone gets it. I never said don't walk or that you have to do it just that it is faster and easier to get more then 10 coins.

@victoria yea I don't have a ton of 3ds games so I am not sure but I bet they will use them more maybe in animal crossing.

People used to think changing the date will bring others in darker times.

I walk to work each day and build up 10 coins and sometimes pickup a few StreetPass hits. I prefer to do it this way. I'd get absolutely no satisfaction cheating the system, which is essentially what you're doing.

Thanks so much. People just don't seem to understand. All this is for is if you do not want to wait a day for only 10 more coins. With this technique you can get a lot more in one day. Plus I said you can change the date and still walk to get the coins. So if you walk technically you aren't cheating.

How is this cheating? I am not forcing you to use this technique. You can walk to earn the coins everytime you change the date and if you don't want to do it that is ok.

Well now to close this debate for good , yes you can do it as gamemonkey described and spoil the fun !
Just be warned it will mess up your streetpassing , it was confirmed by DiggerDan in the original thread.
That play coin cheating we had like 3 months ago ...
Either you go this way or u prefer streetpassing which i do , because if you mess around with your date you cant get data from former streetpassers which you ALREADY met.
Okok if you live in a 3DS free zone go ahead and enjoy, but im happy with a metagame which lasts longer than a week.
I got the system since march and still havnt finished Find Mii nor Puzzle Swamp. ( double puzzle pieces is driving me nuts ...)

I am not criticizing you monkey, but this method messed up my system's data. My 3ds now thinks it is saturday, not sunday like it really is when I changed the date back to the right day. It also got rid of all the steps from the future. I simply do not recommend the method you suggest, monkey.

I think most people understand you're still walking for the coins. I know that every day I take mine out with me walk more than 1000 steps and should be getting more coins for all those 'wasted steps'. They just don't like the idea of changing the date around to 'cheat' the system and worry about other things that messes up ... ie Data's head being found in past as @warioswoods pointed out (Good one by the way)

You can buy extra AR games using play coins once you unlock the AR shop.

I would like to know more about this. And, in what way can this have an negative effects on the 3DS?
Those Coins are indeed a pain to obtain but, finding an simple alternative to gain more, is in our right as 3DS owners.

If you put your 3ds in a clothes dryer and turn it on, it will shake and tumble and accrue coins. It may also destroy your system however.

In some regard i'm cheating the system too. I'm driving to work by bike. While driving i get Coins too.
But i rather take these dirty coins than missing a single StreetPass hit i could have while driving.

It is cheating in that you're earning more coins than you're supposed to in one day.

Yea but technically I walked to get every coin plus I only did it up to 100 coins and that was once. Plus the coins aren't used to actually purchase anything. For example you don't buy any real full price 3ds games with them.

But you can purchase additional content with them, that way with the limit they imposed you were drip feed additional games and functions rather than unlocking them all at once... either that or you have only been using them for the sake of the miiplaza games.

It's cheating the system that Nintendo created. End of story.
