I'm glad that most of my love for Dragon Quest comes from a single spinoff series, because if I was a huge fan, I would be SOOOOOOOO angry at Square Enix for their incompetence and laziness with this series in the West.

....

They created Dragon Quest 9.... which was an amazing game on Nintendo DS. Literally everyone loved it. What the heck is happening to Square Enix and JRPGS?!

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

At my local games store you can get preowned copies of DQ 8 and 9, as well as the Joker games for <$10 each. The store just can't get rid of them. I mean the game might not be great, but nobody seems to want it :/

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

Monsters I'm assuming? It's where my love for the series started, but I gradually came to love most of the Dragon Quest games.
Supresses rant about Squeenix

Joker I can understand, but Joker 2 was a great game. Anyone that loves Pokémon needs to try that game out (Especially given how cheap it is now), because that series is what meant I couldn't go back to Pokémon.

Yes, Dragon Quest games all use a turn based battling system, but apparently its slightly altered for this release (don't know the details).

Don't blame Square Enix. Blame Nintendo for their stupid Region Locking. Until today I am still unable to play SD gundam G generation 3D.

You'd still need to bypass the IP block, have a cheat sheet to read Japanese to know what the **** you're doing and what's happening in the game (Commands, Communication, Quest, etc). Do you honestly believe the main problem for DQX is the region lock?

Dragon Quest 7, 8, and 9 all had respectable sales in the West. Even the 4, 5, and 6 DS remakes did not bad. In terms of profit, I'm sure DQ9 earned them more profit in NA and EU than FF13-3 did.

MMOs are a different matter though. As we've seen demonstrated over the past decade, the only MMO that Westerns really care about is World of Warcraft. Given that,

No. Even the good Asian P2P MMOs struggle with player retention.

I think they will bring this to 3ds in North America and Europe for one simple reason. They made a 3ds version Cross Compatable with Wii-U and PC players. It would be real dumb if they don't port this. I even think they will have an English version of the game between December and February sometime between that time. We will see but I would bet they want to get this out as fast as they can and hit that niche asap. North America and Europe are so ready to get this game. So many 3ds's just waiting to play this game in the rest of the world. Could possibly become the #1 game being played on the system
