I'll also say 3DS since that would make 1-9 playable on 3DS that and handhelds are much better for RPGs, X is an MMO and MMOs make since on home consoles

MMOs make sense on PCs.

That's what I was saying, well at home how about, a PC could be considered a console

DQ 1-3 are not on 3DS. Only currently 4-6 and 9.

It'll probably be a while before 3DS VC get's DQ1-3 because there was a DQ 1-3 compilation on the Wii over there last year.

VII is the last good DQ game. It has nice music and more character variety than the "dumbed down" VIII and IX. Glad that's coming to 3DS! Can finally get my own copy after having to rent the original from a friend.

I'm going to assume good means bad in your dictionary. Dragon Quest VII was a terribly flawed game, even by Dragon Quest standards, at least as far as its gameplay is concerned. Conveniently, someone wrote them all out on another forum today, so I'll just post that here:

Here's hoping they do the sensible thing and reduce the amount of grinding it takes to learn abilities (and give Melvin and Aria a better skill set load out when they join you instead of just giving Aria mastery over the quickest and easiest class to master in the game and five levels in the fairly quick to master category and jack squat to Melvin).

Edit: Also make it so you can't permanently screw yourself out of lithograph shards by missing a treasure chest in a cave you only get to visit once during the first disk or something to that effect.

Double Edit: And here's hoping they speed up the opening sequence so that it doesn't take an hour before you have the opportunity to get into your first fight.

Triple Edit: And maybe making Dharma Shrine/Alltrades Abbey accessible a little bit earlier than a full third of the way through the game.

Final Edit, I Swear: And let the unfortunate sap(s? looks like they're adding another party member to this which would help in the awkwardness of only having five teammates in a four man battle party) stuck on the bench get at least some job experience rather than forcing me to abandon Maribel because Aria caught up in class levels and either my MC or Gabo have surpassed her in the magic department thus making her entirely redundant.

I actually have more problems I could list, but I think that'll do for now. But I will say that the biggest problem is the grinding. I don't mind grinding, but the amount you need to do in this game is absolutely obsurd.

Indeed. It'll require the most comprehensive remake since DQ3 GBC. I hope it gets it.

Well, this is certainly a good start. Plus 3D graphics and on screen enemies, this is at least shaping up. Now we just need classes rebalanced and some dungeons reworked, and this could wind up being pretty great.

Handhelds sell more, all genres on handhelds work, handhelds will (hopefully) replace home consoles

I should get my crap together and at least try to beat DQs V (I don't know why I never finished this one, since I remember loving it so much), VI and IX before this massive timesuck arrives.

I still wish Rocket Slime 3 and Terry's Wonderland 3D were coming over, though. Honestly, I'm more interested in those two games than I am in the DQVII remake.

Because it was brought up in another thread that Dragon Quest can be religiously offensive, I thought I'd provide a little quick warning:
God is a secret boss in this game. I think he was even named "God" in the PSOne original. It's just a friendly bout, mind you, but if you win, he lives in your town like an ordinary citizen.
Just thought I'd put that out there.

How is just having a God in a game 'religiously offensive'?
In what way was the context offensive?
The Binding of Isaac can be religiously offensive - Dragon Quest just isn't.

I don't know, but apparently people did way back when. :/ I don't understand what goes through the minds of hyper-religious people.

That said: You fight God and win. You humble him and make him no better than an ordinary person. I suppose some people could take that as belittling God - as doubting his power. Or at least, that's the closest thing to a logical assumption I can come up with. :P

...which ones? At least, that came out around or before 2002 that weren't censored like heck when brought to the west?
