It felt special transferring my Mii from my 3DS. Like I was expanding a legacy and starting fresh at the same time. I won't transfer my Wii data since I didn't really have that much data stored on it anyways, so it's like the 3DS started a fresh start, and now with Wii U the fresh start is on my home console too. It's tough to explain, so I am sorry if that sounded like a drunken walrus.
