Is it confirmed that RETRO is the one porting the title?

I hope not, really want to see what they can do with the Wii U.

Well, surely they can handle more than one title at once. Especially with the new people on-board from Virgil, Naughty Dog etc. They're surely working on a HD title for WiiU.

I'm just curious if they might have a 3DS title in the works as well (like Monolith soft has), or if this was it.

Looking forward to: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

Retro Studios probably have nothing to do with this port.

Nintendo has said that whatever Retro is working on will be revealed at E3, so even if they did have a hand with this, it isn't/wasn't their main project.

I hope this game has some form of additional content, otherwise I have to admit I'll be a bit disappointed. Maybe they'll add some of the Golden Temple level ideas they cut out, or someone show that King K Rool had a part in the whole tiki thing?

Annoyed with remakes, but since this game still has some value, it's okay. I hope, at the very least, they include some sort of new content and don't take the lazy route like Star Fox or Cave Story.

The difference between Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D, Cave Story 3D, and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is that the first three games are remakes while this looks more like a port. Those remakes may not contain much in the realm of extra content, but they were remade for the handheld. The graphics received a massive upgrade and the music (except in OOT 3D) was remade.

DKCR 3D looks like the very same game to me, and the trailer didn't impress me. It looks like the same game except with 3D added in. Unless there is extra content, then there is really no point in buying this if you already own the Wii version.

So excited for this. yes, I realize it's probably going to be a simple port, but it doesn't matter. I loved every second of the game on Wii, and will love it even more on 3DS. This and Animal Crossing make my 3DS happy.

To be fair, it looked better on the Wii than in the eShop video.

I was mostly referring to the 3D effect. Those last 5 or so seconds left me stunned. That was gorgeous! I'm sure it'll look somewhat better by launch too.

@TysonOfTime I agree but that video is not what the final product will look like. It should be on par with the Wii version and in some ways better!

Oh yes, I know. It's the video; it lowers the quality of the footage. The actual game should look much better.

I'd genuinely be glad if the answer was "no one".

I don't say that lightly as DKCR was my favorite game of 2010.

I actually just found an article that pretty much addresses the DK64 VC absence. It seems that Rare doesn't really know why Nintendo didn't release it. They've even stated that Nintendo owns the game and they suggested alternatives to replace Jetpac with.

As I said before Nintendo likes to keep the games in their original form. By replacing Jetpac it would no longer be in its original form even though Rare suggested that it still is changing the game to Nintendo.
