Staff k8sMum	25. Posted: Thu 14th Feb 2013 17:09 GMT i am not a fan of DK64 either. can't remember why, but i never got DKCR for the wii. i loved DKC, 2, 3...so i will be getting this as i am sure it will make my 3DS XL very happy.

Yep that was it, I just looked it up. In Cranky's lab you had to play Jetpac which is a Rare game to get a Rareware coin. That right there is why it never came to the VC.

I'm wondering if rare or more importantly microsoft had something to do with that.

There's got to be another reason that it never got released on VC. Did Rare have a larger role in the N64 game than they did on the SNES? DK64 was one of my favourtie N64 titles and I've always wanted to see it again.

It probably stated that the DKC were only for the Wii and that generation of consoles well since Nintendo now has the Wii U the contract is probably no good now and a new one has to be worked out. @WesCash: Yes it could be removed but than it wont be the original format. Nintendo has stated before that the games on the VC were going to be the original games in their original forms. Yeah I know some games they did make minor changes such as the signs in Wave Race 64 but to redo a whole level like they would have to do in DK64? Yeah I dont see that happening. Anyway with the DKC series now gone I am sure we wont see DK64 anytime soon.
