There are games on the DS that, when too much is happening at once, the framerate drops. Since the 3DS has better technology, does it fix this problem?
I had the same question once, because Super Scribblenauts would lag a bit when there's a lot going on on the screen. The answer is no, because it has to do with the game card itself not being able to handle everything that's going on, not the system.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
i had hoped it would be true, but it isn't — the few games I've played on my 3DS all suffered the same framerate issues and occasional graphical quirks as they did back on my Lite. The same games didn't play better on my DSi, either, so i probably should've known, lol. :3

I'm not absolutely sure, but I believe that this is because the 3DS (or DSi, for non-DSi Enhanced games) reverts back to an 'emulation' mode for the appropriate system (e.g. the DSi will run as a DS for older games) and as a result it cannot take advantage of the extra processing power of the newer system.
I guess it's done to avoid incompatibilities etc. - if a game is programmed to take advantage of the CPU timing or uses other low-level optimisations like that, the CPU needs to run at a specified rate or the game won't work properly.
Of course, I may be completely wrong about that, but I think that's how it works!
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
@Wheels2050: whether that's actually how it works or not, it makes sense to me at least :3
