The only Gameboy games that even matter are first party titles. Mario, Zelda etc. After that there really isn't much left to get excited about. I highly doubt any third party companies are going to lend their support. Don't get me wrong. I'll love being able to finally get back all those games I Iost over the years. The thing is when it came to Gameboy It was kinda the poor kids Nes. Alot of third party games were just pea green half assed versions of the real thing. I hope they put more effort into this soon to be downloadable service.

Yeah but Nintendo alone could fill that up pretty fast just with what they have! I also can think of quite a few rpgs from squaresoft I would like to revisit. Gargoyles guest is another one that comes to mind. But as for some if these games hopefully they come cheap cus I'm not paying more then 5 dollars for anything gameboy color or older!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
Yeah, it'll be worthwhile. The Wii Virtual Console was worthwhile, even if support tapered off eventually. Just keep those expectations in check and it'll be golden.
I hope it has a decent download service for new games and no silly size limits like WII and DSI so we can get arcade quality 3DSWare games or whatever they want to call it.
Games like Cave Shooters Espgaluda 2 and Dodonpachi out on the iphone at the moment.

There. Over 25 great games that didn't take much to come up with. And a lot more besides.

Castlevania Adventure (I believe it was called Adventure) was fun! The Gameboy & Gameboy Color both had a lot of cool games. I know there's a lot I didn't even get to play.
And I'm sure they'll eventually do Gameboy Advance games too! Afterall, it sounds like you save your games on the SD card.
You can rack up some 3rd party games pretty easily by adding other portable systems too. Game Gear would have the largest library, and you'd get some good portable Sega games. Atari Lynx comes to mind too, though games from that system could face licensing issues. There's also Neo Geo Pocket Color. It had a small library (though I'd really like to see the Sonic game from Neo Geo), but the Neo Geo is on the Wii VC, so it's possible.
GBA had a good selection of 3rd party games too, seeing has Ninty conquered the portable realm (except PSP) fairly early on. The library will probably be more skewed towards Nintendo titles than the Wii VC (I personally don't have a problem with that, missed out on a lot of good games). People will probably be more likely to rebuy games for a portable too. I have a working GBC and Game Gear, but I'd rebuy all my favorite games for the 3DS for the portability. As long as my Genesis is working and fits snugly under my TV, I won't be rebuying those games on the Wii.
Just keep your expectations reasonable. There is a smaller library, so releases will probably start trickling off quicker than the Wii's did. Don't expect to see games companies can make more on by selling remakes (ex. Pokemon games) or for Nintendo to do a lot of recoding (ex. don't expect multiplayer support, because they'd have to change the code for the link cable to adapt it to wireless). Expect to see the same companies supporting it (especially in the beginning). All that being said, enjoy Super Mario Land.
Just as long as I can have my Pokemon and I can trade them to other 3DS copies, and to Pokemon Stadium on the Wii VC, I will be ecstatic about it.
Doubt that'll happen. It would be too much work to emulate features such as the link cable and game boy player for N64 for 3DS/Wii's wireless capabilities. Plus, Game Freak makes too much money on remakes of these games for it to make sense to offer the originals for bargain basement prices.

Game Boy Advance has one of the best game libraries ever ... so there's potential
Especially since the licensed crap won't get on it. Unlike the GB/C, pretty much all of the licensed games on the GBA were terrible, outside of an odd game here and there.
If you get 10 games out of it, wouldn't you call that worthwhile? I'll never understand why people don't think it's worthwhile if they don't get literally 1000000000 games, and a new one each week, out of something.

Amen sir! It's amazing how much people have been asking for/whining about not having a DSi VC. Now that we're getting one, all people can do is complain. I'm happy to see anything that gets put on there. A few retro games available for download is better than NO retro games!

Very true. The only time when it won't be worth it is when you get the whole system just for that feature, in which case, why did you spend $300 for a new system to play old GB games when you could've just spent that money on a Gameboy and well over 50-100 games? Personally, I'm just hoping something good will pop up every once in a while so I can try some of those old school games I missed out on without having to hunt on eBay.

Bingo. It's an extra feature. Just like the VC on the Wii, I expect I'll probably only download 10 or so games, either because I loved the originals, or I never experienced them before.
And 10 extra games of awesome. Completely worthwhile.
@WaltzElf Word. Now that we know what to expect from the VC, how could anyone be disappointed? It is what it is. I was a little bummed about the Wii's VC initially, because I had imagined a glorious plethora of my favorite games available for instant download. But now we know the reality of the release schedule, etc.
