Yes it is.

Yeah, the iPhone is definitely coming into its own as a mobile gaming platform, but I gotta say, while there are a lot of fun 5-minute play session type games for the iPhone, there is a huge absence of games that offer any real depth of gameplay experience. Sword & Sworcery is about the only one I can think of, but I'd love to be proved wrong (meaning, I'd love some iPhone recommendations!)

Thanks! But, my problem with gaming on the iPhone is that a lot of games are ported over, but they're designed for button and dpad oriented tactile interfaces, not touch screens. Sword and Sworcery is an amazing game that was designed with the touch screen/accelerometer in mind, and it really shows. I'm more looking for ORIGINAL iOS games, not ports, y'know?

oh well, FFIII is a remake of the DS one, optimized for iphone (much like how the DS game was completely playable by using the touch screen).

I don't have an iphone/itouch so i can't really tell you about more games.

YES, THIS!
I've been thinking this lately while reading some of the criticisms of the 3DS Virtual Console games, particularly Super Mario Land and Kirby's Dream Land. Yes, they're short games, but when we were kids that never mattered. I would just beat the same game like 40,000 times and love it more every time through.

Not to mention, at that time storage space was quite limited. These people rating the content only seem to think of content in respect to the current time, not in respect to whenever the games were released and the platform they were on.

Ironically enough that applies to all consoles, especially when you make a comparison between one that is less than a year old and ones that are several years old.

That's cause the've only came from shovelware 3rd-Parties, I mean there's no Square Enix, Namco Bandai, EA, Sega, ETC
What did you guys expect them to do? Release games for core? There arn't, and those game publishes arn't geared toward us.

Also I found a lot of the shovelware 3DS Games for $29.99 at Gamestop..

They may not expect to sell 'em. But I expect to buy 'em. So, I don't care.

I'll admit the launch line-up was pretty lackluster, but the fall line-up makes up for it.

The holiday line-up makes the Fall Line-up look like the 3DS launch line-up!

Excuse me, but what's the basis for this?

Aside of my personal taste, NL review scores, for example. Obviously lzbirdboy thinks that these reviews must be based on ignorance ... ... well, most of these present in other sites are even less generous (even more ignorant I guess).

The Nintendo life review guide stated that 5/17 launch titles were "must haves", and that 4/17 launch titles were "okay".

I remember when games used to be measured in how fun they were and not how much crap was packed into them.

so very true.
i played hours and hours of that plant vs zombie game. hours and hours on nes games that were so simple, yet so fun.
now its mostly all about graphics or load of useless content.
put some soul in your work, stop thinking of your profits, you game sharky devs !

Usually if you read up on the games you want it stops you getting the bad ones, the turkeys etc...
Out of the half dozen 3DS games I have there is only a couple I dont really play and a couple of the ones I have I had found to be great value for money like Samurai Warriors, plenty of content and some great DLC.
But there are some real turkeys as well... im looking at you UBIsoft but thankfully shops are getting wise to these and are selling them for about £16 / 18€
I think the good 3DS games are worth paying more than the standard handheld rate but not as much as a home console game and lately stores seem to be following suit with new releases coming out just under £30 instead of the £40 price point the launch titles came out at.

Like PSP games, I'd end up spending over $250 on as many 3DS games I got.

Oh sorry Rift, probably I did express it in a too complex, obscure and tricky way to understand. I'm not asking why most current 3D titles are so bad (nor I'm putting it under discussion), I'm asking how being that bad they can put so high prices and still expect to sell any. Easier now? And that's even worse when you see mithycal companies like Konami following this "fashion".

If you're asking how game companies can expect to sell bad games at high prices, then why is this in the 3DS section? Maybe you hadn't noticed, but bad, overpriced games aren't exactly new to the game industry.

Papa_Godzilla

true...
its been how much time already since its launch ? about 3 months and a half only?
its only a matter of time until we see its true potential. im sure within a year or two, this console will have its share of impressive and entertaining titles.

Patience, my comrades, it's not like many other consoles had an excessive amount of outstanding titles within their first year, either.....

I'm pretty sure I think I'm funnier than I really am.

Imperfect

You can count the number of succsessful console launchs on half a hand. Good games usually come out about a year or so later, sometimes less.

Their's an easy way to justify buying a game or not.

Fun with game + time spent with it - price =fun.

Saber

Since I always wait several years to get a console after it's release, I therefore get good games.
