Topic: Disappointment of 3DS Top Screen "Animations"

I was disappointed with Luigi's Mansion : Dark Moon's "Animation" a lot. It was just a logo for the game. Does anyone else think there are these "animations" out there for 1st party title 3DS games? Do you think Nintendo is slacking recently for these "animations?" I know it's a small detail, but some people really like these details, like me.

I don't really think it's about the opening 'Animations' but the gameplay and detail in the games themselves

Sure, some of them are kinda lame, but others are adorable — I love AC:NL's little top-screen animation a lot :3

So... Title screens? Why are you expecting anything other than a title?

It may sound silly, but the top screen animation (and in the case of DSiWare, animated icons) can actually make me like or dislike a game before playing it.

It's like, the first impression, it's important.

I actually thought the same thing as OP. Sure, it's just a title animation, but it is the first impression you get from the game, so 'eh, I dunno, just think it would be nice if they had a little more .

I agree. When it's just a flat title card, my heart breaks a little.

Colors! 3D doesn't even have a little jingle or anyone

The only thing sadder than a game with a flat board for animation is one without a jingle.

I think we should come up with a name for these things....

Menu Splashes? Mini Dioramas? MiniDis? Startupers? Jinglers?

The ones I think are the best, are Starfox(not the jingle, though), OoT 3D, Tetris Axis, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Camera App, and AR cards.

I generally don't think much of the top screen animation or jingle, but those are the ones I thought were best. Honorable mentions would be Cave Story or the Sound App for me. For some reason, even something as simple as the Netflix App sound like what they are, so even if I don't like it so much, those aren't bad so to say. The AR cards one just struck me as being something really high tech when I first got my 3DS. That's somewhat true...

I'm not to critical about them, but they are something. I always have the volume turned down for the Mario ones(besides Paper Mario, obviously).

I'll have to agree that the OoT3D icon is really cool.

Other than that, I like the ones for Sakura Samurai, Samurai Warriors: Chronicles, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy, & Super Mario 3D Land as well.

I can understand why some would be simple though. They have to take up some sort of memory after all, and I'm sure some companies want their games/apps to take up as little space as possible.

I really like that they have these little pictures/animations but sometimes they are pretty boring. Some of my favorites are Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies and Pokémon Y. My most hated are Luigi's Mansion 2 and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. I don't mind Virtue's Last Reward's simple logo for some reason. A simple logo fits better for that game.

Monster Hunter's bothers me, both in why its mostly just the title. But why they chose to put the girl on there out of all things rather then a bloody dragon.

Have to say I'm not a fan of DKCR3D's top screen animation I mean come they completely neglected Diddy Kong.

Pilotwings Resort, The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, Kid Icarus : Uprising, Paper Mario : Sticker Star, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Animal Crossing : New Leaf, Pokemon X & Y, and The Legend of Zelda : A Link Between Worlds were the best animations for me. Luigi's Mansion : Dark Moon could've at least had a 3D Luigi model or the Poltergust 5000. Dragon Quest Monsters : Terry's Wonderland 3D was the best Japan game so far that I seen.

Kingdom Hearts 3D has a great animation when you put your cursor on it in the menu. Resident Evil: Revelations 3D also has a cool animation. Ocarina of Time 3D's animation is cool. Hmmm... what others can I think of......

I like the ones that spin really fast when you blow into the mic.

I love how Capcom always seems to please with their Resident evil titles on game systems including the 3Ds. The creepy voice that says the title of the game just makes me know the game won't disappoint
