Topic: Digital Games / Saves

Hello! I have been reading a few things online recently and wanted to get the most up to date answer on this.

I have bought a few games digitally for my 'new 2ds xl' because I thought it would be better (in a digital age). But now it's seems with Nintendo maybe this is not the case? For instance, if my system dies, I can contact Nintendo and ask them to transfer games bought via the eshop to a new Nintendo system, but the game saves are lost?

If I kept back ups of the game saves, then my system died and I had the digital games transferred to a new system, are my backups still linked to the old system and not transferable?

Does anyone have experience of this happening in 2018/2019?

@sisboombah What you would need to relink to your new 3DS is your NNID. If you can't perform a system transfer, then just call Nintendo and ask them to unlink your NNID from the old 3DS for you. Anyway, moving the SD card data over to the new system is always the way I've transferred data. As long as your NNID is registered to the new system, I don't see why it'd be an issue.
