The high-kicking fighter will not see release due to child porn laws.
Dead or Alive Dimensions, a 3DS fighter developed by Team Ninja, has been effectively banned in Sweden due to child pornography laws.
European gamers have been receiving e-mails from GameStop and GAME stores informing them that the game will not see release as Bergsala, the title's distributor, received threats from the police regarding the issues the game brought forth. A post on NeoGAF elaborates that the decision was to enforce the country's child pornography laws, stating that even in fiction, if a minor is presented in a pornographic situation, it is violating the law. Dead or Alive Dimensions features a game mode in which players can take photos of the characters. This mode was used as the foundation for this claim.
Besides Sweden, the game was also prohibited from being sold in Norway and Denmark, and the stores that offered the game are now eliminating it from their databases and returning players their money if they reserved a copy of the game.
The age of consent is 15 in Sweden. You can legally sleep with a 15 year old girl but it is illegal to play a game with a fictional 17 year old girl wearing half revealing clothing. Its not even pornographic clothing nor are the girls doing any sexual actions in the games...
...to be fair, the DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball games weren't really so much about the volleyball, so you can't blame legislators who probably don't play the games from assuming all DOA games are smutty. They were probably just given a highlight reel of series highlights.
I don't know about Dimensions, but if its anything like the regular DOA series, you're not missing out on a great fighting game.
What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

It would require people to actually play or watch the game for more than 30 seconds to figure that out. Although, doesn't it sort of help sales to raise controversy? They say any publicity is good publicity, and it might actually increase interest since it was banned, which implies there's...uh, content in there...
Censorship in general is far from consistent. See how the recent Ar Tonelico for PS3 made it to Australia, yet games that are probably less "offensive" are banned there.
Still infuriating. It looks like I may have to import :@ I may try to find a good Polish site or something (yeah, I wish me luck on that) so I don't get beaten down by exchange rates The UK is probably the most expensive place to import from
New name, same game.

I can still go down to a local store and buy any other game in the series though. Even Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball. Stupid Sweden, ruining the fun for all of us.

Not that I necessarily agree with this law, but the firstpost is factually incorrect. Although it is legal to have sex at 15 in Sweden, it is illegal to appear in pornography before 18 (or perhaps 21, I'm hazy on that).
Age of consent has nothing to do with pornography law whatsoever.
Thought I should clarify that, as misinformation makes for a bad argument.
Also, a big LOL that Ar Tonelico got through in Australia with a PG (13 +) rating at that. Clearly the censors didn't actually play that game, because the sexual innuendo is not even close to being subtle. Every 2nd line of dialogue is about some teen dude 'diving' into a flat chested girl.
Still at least we didn't get this game banned, either. The one thing our censors seem to have right is that violence in media is worse than sex in media.
I just looked up Ar Tonelico and I can't believe that it got away with a 12 rating in europe while DOA: dimensions gets a 16 rating. Ar tonelico sounds like it has more sexual scenes and references than DOA: dimensions so I'm surprised that it didn't get a 16 rating too.
There are probably more important things to worry about, even within the realm of games.
Within the realm of games I have a $250 system and no games for it that have any play left in them. It's important I get my money's worth for the system
And this whole thing wouldn't be so stupid if it wouldn't render the streetpass essentially useless I doubt a lot of people here import
