Olay, so basically I'm comsidering getting one of these, but I have a few questions first:
1. Does this game 'work' the same as XY? Pokemon Y was my first ever pokemon game, and I thoroughly enjoyed it because of how simple it was for a newbie to get the hang of. Like how I was able to beat the story easily without having to know about any of these 'HMs, stats, natures' etc.
2. Can I transfer all my Pokemon from Y? I don't mind starting the story from scratch, but I don't want to be working with two games.
3. I've heard that there are a few legendaries in this game. So, excluding Kyogre/Groudon respectively, are these legendaries able to be caught at any point in the game, or are there only short windows?
1. You don't need to know all the "hidden stuff" as well as stats to enjoy the game.
2. Yeah you can, but you'll need to use the Pokemon Bank which costs a hefty amount of $5 for a year to use. (...lol)
3. A lot of legendaries...I don't know which ones...but, a lot.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
1) Well it runs on the same engine, it is similar style except being remakes the story is different etc
It does seem easier than the originals however. But yes! It's very X and Y style but there is no character customisation. But it is accessible to newbies!
2)You can transfer Pokémon from Y but (sorry if you already know this) you can't transfer high level Pokémon over until you collect gym badges, so essentially the point of any new Pokémon game is to start from scratch. When you beat the game though, trading from 3DS to 3DS or using Pokémon Bank will allow you to trade between Y and ORAS! For the main story however, a fresh team is often the way to go.
3) In Alpha Sapphire you can obtain Kyogre and in Omega Ruby you can obtain Groudon in the plot like Yveltal in Pokemon Y. The best place to check for legendaries is Serebii, but I think the available legendaries are through the new ability "soaring" in "mirage spots" where you can obtain legendaries from other games (Reshiram/Zekrom, Palkia/Dialga, Lugia/Ho-oh).
For the Hoenn legendaries there's the Regi trio (Regirock, Regice, Registeel) and Rayquaza, there's also Deoxys and Latias/Latios! I think I may be missing a few because I'm just listing them off the top of my head, but yeah! Plenty of legendaries in game and after game. ORAS has a much bigger post game apparently, but I haven't beaten the game myself yet, but I've played every Pokémon game in the past.
Hope I've helped!

Sorry I missed your reply there!
Thanks for the reply; I completely forgot about the annual charge for the PB!
You can catch ALL non event pokemon between ORAS and X/Y.
You can catch all of them except the kanto birds, mewtwo, xerneas, and yveltal since those are obtainable in x/y. Everything else that isn't an event pokemon (except for one that I won't spoil) can be caught in omega ruby and alpha sapphire. (with some verison exclusives of course)
