Topic: Couldn't Game Notes Be Our Messaging System?

I mean think about it.It's already built into the OS and all they would need to add to it is text,inbox,change the name to something like friend notes and the ability to send the notes to your friends online.Why couldn't they just update this through a firmware update?

That's called Swapnote, and if Nintendo was to upgrade it and/or the Friend List, they'd probably just upgrade Swapnote with a few features a bunch of us want (keyboard-text typing, the ability to respond to a note you're already commented on, etc.) and fold that into the Friend List, not upgrade something that's fine as it is and force users to attempt to juggle 3 different communication tools.
