With the price of the PSP go, and the price of the DSi XL, I am going to peg my guess at $249.99. More than an XL, but it does more, and the same as their main competitor. As for release? I honestly have no clue. I am going to be hopeful and put an educated guess at November. Honestly, I could be wrong on that.

Release is around march 2011. Before the end of the fiscal year. Or so I'm told.

$200 for the system probably.

Now for games, how much would THEY cost?

considering the amount of content in them (2GB max) and the fact that there is 3D I am going to say $40 standard. No higher than $45 for any title.

From what we can tell, the system looks pretty much complete from the E3 build. And since Nintendo is letting E3 attenders play it out in the open and not behind curtains, I'd say it's a good bet to say that it's coming out in the end of this year or the extremely early beginning of 2011. Also, it seems that Nintendo doesn't have any Christmas releases since Zelda was pushed back to 2011, which would make the 3DS a prime candidate for Nintendo's heavy hitter of the shopping season. As for the price, I would prefer spending $200 on the thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if it cost up to $250 since it's new tech.

You forget that Donkey Kong Country Returns is their Holiday game for Wii, and probably Golden Sun Dark Dawn for the DS. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced it for a Spring release date, like in March or April, but when will Skyward Sword be released? I hope in like February or March honestly.

Nintendo’s new 3D portable system has made a pretty big splash at E3. Most of the press coming from the showfloor has remained pretty positive about the 3DS and its capabilities. Having handled the new system, a few analysts have taken to guessing a possible suggested retail price and release date for the console.

Colin Sebastian, analyst for Lazard Capital Markets believes the 3DS will launch somewhere around $249 to $299 retail. “Nintendo’s 3D-enabled handheld device (3DS) was the largest draw at E3, and we believe it will be successful at extending the company’s leadership position in the portable market. Importantly, the 3DS does not require glasses or a 3D TV to enjoy a 3D experience, which we believe will resonate well with consumers. We expect a late 2010 launch of the 3DS in Japan, followed by March 2011 in North America, with a price point in the $249-$299 range,” he said.

David Cole of DFC Intelligence spoke to IndustryGamers and confirmed his belief in the $249 price point. "The 3DS exceeded expectations on most levels for me. Prior to the show I would have said it had to be under $200. Now $250 seems reasonable for what it offers."

Finally, Todd Greenwald of Signal Hill Capital cautioned Nintendo to be wary of growing competition from Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch.

“Those that have held it are mostly blown away with the 3D features,” he said. “I think $250 would be too high. We saw how well the PSPgo did at $249, right? Also, needs to be priced closer to iPhone or iPod Touch, in my opinion. Think it comes out at $199. And probably launches in spring 2011, likely in March -)To me the PSPgo was a bad idea to start with cause it didnt do much. If people could pay big bicks for a iPod Touch after buyin different iPhone the price on a 3DS is not a big deal bein you are gettin more then all put together. Dont think nintendo would do a such thing but it is what it is, people will still buy it because the 3DS is the next big thing.

Price: $299

Nintendo can charge whatever they want due to Sony not announcing a PSP successor and Apple's products not offering 3D or a full-fledged gaming experience (yet). They have no competition at the starting gate with the 3DS and it's features. There's no chance of it going to be under $200, that's for sure.

Your right and people still will buy it if they want it that bad.

I imagine they can't announce the price because they're still in the process of brokering deals with suppliers. One thing in their favor is the sheer volume of sales one can expect; you can really twist some arms for lower cost parts when you have a near guarantee of producing many millions of units.

Maybe Gamestop will allow you to trade your DSi in for the 3DS, plus some extra moolah, most likely.

If it comes in November, there will be brawls of single parents, Otaku, Casual Gamers, grandma's buying for christmas, and....OMG...Nintendo is making a real life smash brothers with the release of this system. I am going to be the Otaku with the final smash of "eye gouge" since if they only have one eye, they can't see the 3D and I can go ahead in the line/mob.

Needs to be priced closer to the iPhone? The 32GB iPhone costs $300 with a 2 year contract, and either $500 or $600 with no contract.
While I don't think it will cost nearly that much, I would be willing to pay up to $349.99 for it. My guess is that it will indeed be priced in the $249-$299 range.

I think it will be 224.99$ on November 21st, hoping so anyway

nintendo's strategy has always been to produce simple products that are cheap enough for consumers to buy easily, espoused best by the game boy and the wii which both wildly succeeded against competition that was much more advanced (and expensive).

if 3D technology were costly enough to produce that it would lead to a much more expensive unit for the consumer i don't think they would have offered it yet. the fact that they are suggests that they can keep the costs from going much higher than the current DS models, so i think $250 is the most we'll see. even $200, though reasonable, is as much as their home console, so i doubt they'll push much higher than that. (i'd still buy it for $300 )

and as far as a release date goes, if they're not offering this by christmas, what will they offer? donkey kong's great and all, but it's not the type of console mover nsmbw was. i don't think nintendo is going to leave their holiday schedule as blank as it will be if both zelda and the 3DS are held off to next year.

BusinessWeek claims that Iwata stated, in an interview, that the system would be on sale by March. I believe it's clear that they'll be missing the holiday season, unfortunately. He didn't even say it would be on sale in the US by March, by the way, so it could launch even later here.

Yea Iwata stated it would be on sale by march, and that could also mean it is released before march cause it is on sale in march too then March just means the end of Q1 and Ninty already stated it woul be out by the end of Q1. This reveals nothing
