I mean, I don't know much about the game. I vaguely know it's I guess... a story horror game...thing? People like it, Xseed originally published here, that's all I need to know.
...well actually I just looked it up. So...apparently the PSP game I knew of was actually a port...of a remake of an RPG Maker game from the 90s. ....huh.
Oh boy, mudered and murderous ghost children and gore lots and lots of gore.
It's a adventure horror game, so like Resident Evil without the combat or health to worry about. That being said there are alternate endings to certain episodes, so there is some fun there. But it's mostly a narrative experience, kind of like Mirai Nikki.
Oh this is nice, those were nice chilling stories, now I only saw one game when there was a few more, guess I will look into it some more and might get this!
Don't let the whole "RPG Maker game from the 90s" thing fool you. It's a fantastic game, and one of the most effective narrative horror experiences I've had. Of course it's not cinematic horror like a Silent Hill or Fatal Frame game. It plays more like a VN, I guess.

You sure you're not thinking of the anime? The anime is insanely gory, but the game is fairly tame, I guess mostly due to the limitations of the low res pixel art. Most of the "gore" is in the journal entries, which are just descriptions. And it's nothing like Mirai Nikki. >_>
Anyway, I have both of the PSP games, but I'd totally double dip if they get released for 3DS in the west.
@CaviarMeths Since you have the PSP games, any chance there's certain things within the game that'll be inevitably censored when it heads to a Nintendo platform?

I guess, if NoA publishes it. If someone like XSEED picks it up though, I doubt it. It's absolutely an M-rated game, but it wouldn't be the firston the system. The only issue I could see would be that all of the violence is inflicted on minors, but if Senran Kagura Burst can get away with exploding clothes of high school students, then Corpse Party should be able to get away with death and dismemberment of high school students.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Only saw snippets of the game, never actually played it, so I wouldn't know.
I tried playing the old english patched version but never got it to run properly.
I gave up on it and never touched it again.
Might give this version a try if it's localized.
I played the original on the PSP, and I don't really intend to play another one, primarily due to the fact that it scared me to death.
I've never been the biggest fan of horror games, but I can deal with RE just fine and I've played a fair amount of Project Zero 2 as well, neither of which really bothered me very much, but this was on an entirely different level. ;__;
The game's visual style belies just how brutal and distressing it is. I mean that in the best sense possible: Corpse Party is my favorite horror game since Amnesia. It's a great example of how effective sound work and atmosphere can suggest realities far more horrifying than anything a graphic designer can conjure up in his twisted imagination.
I highly suggest anyone playing this go in as blind as possible.
@Ralizah: I'll be looking into it more, I haven't played many horror games other than the Zero Escape games if you would call them that? The game does look interesting. I noticed too that it got a ESRB rating ... so maybe it will be localized.
Anyone else looking forward to playing this once it gets localized?
raises hand
Speaking of which, it'd be great if at some point down the line they ported other Corpse Party games to the 3DS, like Book of Shadows. I've been meaning to play that one since forever, but my computer is not really up for the task anymore. Plus the 3DS is pretty lacking on the visual novel department.

It all depends on how well the 3DS port of the first one sells. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of it, I'd definitely repurchase it if a 3DS version somehow got localized. You could probably get away with watching a silent LP of it on Youtube, though. There aren't too many meaningful choices to make compared to the original, the "gameplay" consists of some very basic point and click interactions, and if you're emulating it on your PC, then you're probably not getting the benefit of the binaural audio, anyway (Which is one of the things that makes me sad about watching LPs of these games on Youtube that turn off the voice acting: the voice acting is incredible, and it's even better when it sounds like it's coming from behind you, or next to your ear).
There's a sound effect of a fly in BoS that legitimately made me feel like there was a fly buzzing right next to my ear. It freaked me out.
