Pokemon Platinum is my favorite game of all time for so many reasons. Gamefreak executed that game perfectly and beautifully. The story was awesome, so much content, INCREDIBLY user friendly, Sinnoh was fun to explore, and the list just runs on. I really wish Gamefreak would revisit Sinnoh with the same exact team that created Pokemon Platinum.
Pokemon Black and White were really good games, too. The story in Unova was not that bad. Ghetsis, N, the Shadow Triad... all that stuff was interesting.
Pokemon games actually can pull of a story and become a masterpiece. Gamefreak needs to revisit the games were they did amazing jobs.
Pokemon Platinum was indeed the best Pokemon game ever, but I don't trust Game Freak to do it justice when it comes time to remake DP. The current direction Game Freak has gone in is just so unfriendly to older players it's ridiculous, the games are completely idiotproof to the point where even a braindead monkey could beat them, and they've been stripping out gameplay content even more than they used to.
Sad... but you actually have a point. Compare Team Galactic and Cyrus to Lysandre and Team Flare............ Cyrus was a freaking psychotic mastermind and he was crazy. What a awesome character. And Lysandre... ugh.... What a joke of a evil villain.
That wasn't really my point. I actually thought Lysandre was an all right villain, and I think in general, the storyline's been getting better in recent games. It's the gameplay that concerns me because Game Freak is insistent on removing any sense of depth, freedom, and challenge from the gameplay so that they can make it easier. Things like linear region design, size limits on trainer rosters, constant handholding, removal of useful gameplay elements, screwing with the EXP system. Platinum was such a great game because it was the exact opposite, and I feel that they're probably going to end up ruining some of the things that made it great if they approach it the same way they do with games nowadays.
Anyway, when they reveal mega flygon and move tutors.. then I'll start bouncing off walls in hype. (Plz give clawitzer shell smash, Plz give clawitzer shell smash, Plz give clawitzer shell smash..)
Flygon is my favorite nonlegendary dragon type, but he is just too lackluster right now as he is, so I never even get to use him.. As much as I love baton passing and I love both ninjask and scolipede in general (ninjask my fav all time btw) and can turn flygon into a monster in a matter of a couple turns.. It's still too much work.
(seriously I'll hate trollfreak gut's if they foolessly don't give flygon a mega.. I don't like tropius all that much but even I can acknowledge the fact he needs one.. as well as castform but my priority sticks with flygon.. I truely think mega sharpedo and camperupt were comfirmed by the mega stones seen on what's their faces of aqua and magma.)
X and Y were a huge change from the style of Black and White 2. This is just a remake of some older games using the X/Y engine. Chances are that, gameplay-wise, this will be extremely similar to X/Y in terms of how it plays. Which isn't a bad thing (except for the 3D, which is likely going to awful again), but it also isn't exciting like X/Y were.
Then again, I never played Ruby or Sapphire on the GBA, so I'm curious to see what I was missing.
I just hope they improve the engine enough to not have that annoying lag in battles that XY had.

RSE had more in common with DPPt than anything else, the region design was equally large and open ended, and many of the features in DPPt were introduced in RSE (Battle Frontier, Contests, Secret Bases, multiple bike speeds (which came from actually having two bikes in RSE), berry planting, Poffins came from Pokeblocks). But like XY, it didn't have a whole lot of post game content (which does make me a little worried for this game, as I'm hoping for lots of post game content in this game).

Man, oh, man.... Pokemon Platinum is sooo good. So freaking good. The exact team within Gamefreak that created that game needs to come back.

I don't think it's the developers that changed as much as it's Game Freak's development practices that have changed.
Does that mean a "new" Pokemon game that usually comes out on October 28th-ish isn't happening?
at least not this year

You mean like Z? They don't release that on the same year as a remake, for all intents and purposes a remake is considered a "new" game in Pokemon. ORAS is all you get this year, come back next year and maybe they'll announce Z or something along those lines (personally I think it's going to be XY2, but that's beside the point).

Right on. I was just trying to figure out if they were going to double hit us with the NEW remake AND the NEW story stuff. Either way....I'm on board..... Here's a thought for everyone........ We all know ORAS is next ....... what IF they did do a DLC "Z" also, for those "mysterious legends" we already know about but haven't been released.
Another idea, play ORAS, transport the legends from that game to unlock other legends in X/Y?

Couple possibilities....... Happy gaming y'all!
Masuda clearly said they'll never make DLC for pokemon games, he wants them to be sold as a whole rather than incomplete.
Given volcanion's water/fire typing.. and hoenn's many volcanoes and water routes.. I can see him being in ORAS.
Alot of us may have already played 3rd gen pokemon therefore it is hard for us to get excited about it. If we got a new game instead of just an old game with updated graphics maybe people would be more inclined to be excited.

Doubtful, unless there's something that it unlocks in the game. Hackers have already found an event that involves Volcanion in XY (although more like a conversation TBH), it's associated with Kalos.

True true but like the lati stones he could be obtainable in ORAS and traded to x/y.. the women and documents in x/y don't instantly mean that's where they were documenting it... BUT.. we'll never know, once again, until the games are released. Speculations is speculations.
