Topic: Competitive Falco tips?

I'm starting to use the blue bird now, and I know there are some insane things that you can do with him, usually in Melee and Brawl to a lesser extent.
Just wondering if anyone knew what works and what doesn't this time around. I have about an 85% success rate fighting level 9 CPUs in 1-on-1 and a 45% win rate on For Glory. Most of the time I self-destruct because I'm learning to control his Up-B recovery.
Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Mm. Horizontally, you can use side B to recover. You can use up B directly below stage "lips" (slopes) to slide along and catch the ledge without overshooting and getting punished.

The recovery recieved a major buff, so you can jump a tiny bit off the stage, use your side b spike, double jump towards the stage, and use your horizontal up b. You can get a lot of surprise kills, and it earns you some sweet style points.

It's all a matter of timing your recovery correctly. Your double jump is very important and can mean life or death, so remember when you have to save it for recovery. You can use it to get into proper position for recovery. Remember not to get hit during the startup frames of your up b.

Last thing, don't use lazers that often. Falco plays differently from the other games and relies more on back-air, and down-tilt to kill rather than dAir spike, and his aerials need better timing. His reflector (down b) is essential for spacing your opponent. In the right hands, he's a pretty good character, and I'd place him in upper mid tier, though the game right now is relatively balanced.

Use that circle pad until it breaks.

And remember to evade until the R button breaks.

I'm a falco main across all smashes in all the games. Till the death of me I will continue to use him. In this game his fair is possibly his best kill move it kills at 100-120 depending on weight class. And it's an amazing ledge guard! Try it! It's the bane of every little Mac and characters with basic recoveries. Short hop off the side and fair people they will drop low and most of the cast will die from it. His short hop lasers are gone and chaingrab which makes me sad :/ but rejoice! We find new things and dominate! I will practice that short hop side B to spike for style points btw cool stuff! The community needs this!
