Man, that's a big improvement for a handheld Mario Kart. I would like to see a comparison between Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 3DS, but the latter looks just like the former, maybe even better!

I agree, like how Gohma was more blue in the original. Overall it looks fine though. I'm not complaining :D

Cause HD would make it worse for a handheld as people say having more pixels makes a screen better but you wouldnt see them. A screen that is 42" is displays movie at 1080p that's 1920x1080. The 3DS screen is 3.53" diagonally. Directly this is 161x90. The optimum size for 640 x 480: 7.9"x5.9" (9.9" diagonal). Having a 800(1600)x480 3.53" screen would actually hurt if gameres were made for that.

not dissing the 3DS for not being HD but............ 1080p on a 3DS size/type screen, while possibly ridiculous, would be and look awesome. Have you seen the iPhone 4/iPod Touch G4 Screen? iDevices might be pretty useless for all but the most casual gaming but you'd have to have an irrational dislike of Apple to say anything bad about that screen.

Lol you know how crap looking 1920x1080 = on a 42 inch "pc" screen. that resolution would make the screen bud ugly.
I got a 27 inch with a 1920x1200 resolution, and thats already getting a bit meh.

Then you stated 640x480 resolution for 10 inch = horrible looking. My mini laptop has a 10 inch screen, which actually goes up alot higher then that resolution if not 1200x800+ resolution which looks a hell lot better then 640x480.

Those statements really dont make much of a sense at all.

why would a 800x480 screen hurts your eyes? in 3D? it would hurt your eyes the same way as a 800x240 version 3D screen or any other version.

Re: resolution

You can't reliably compare the look of this 3D screen to other screens at the same resolutions, because the stereoscopic effect means that your eyes actually receive 2 different sets of information about the image, which are then combined in perception to form a whole. The resulting effect is a great deal of anti-aliasing, for your eyes will naturally blend the images together. You will not be able to easily spot specific pixels while in 3D, even when you stare at objects closely, because they will be in different places on the object for each eye (except for flat objects located at depth 0, right at the surface of the screen). This is why so many reviewers said it looked smoother than they could have believed.

It's like looking through a grid with one eyes versus two: with the one eye alone, you'll see the "pixels" of each discrete hole in the grid, but with two, you'll catch the objects on the other side through two different vantage points, and your eyes will combine them.

Moral: I guarantee that it will look far crisper and smoother than any screen you've seen with comparable resolution. The numbers don't work the same way here.

@warioswoods I guess I'll have to see for myself waits

Still, as awesome as this 400x240 auto-stereoscopic 3.5" screen sounds, I doubt it looks clearer than Apple's 960x640 3.5" screen. Not holding that against the 3DS just saying that it's pretty ridiculous to say that you wouldn't notice the difference if they upped the res of the screen and that it would litterally "hurt" to play games on a screen of that resolution. There is still room and reason for improvement of DPI on 3DS and 42" 1080p screens.

There is MORE room for improvement in contrast and viewing angles but that's another story............

I'm really wondering if I should just wait for Zelda OOT 3DS, instead of experiencing it for the first time on the Wii's N64 VC.
The 3DS version will clearly have much more advantages including 3D, but it would be pretty nice playing it on the big screen.
