I'm stunned at the poor reaction to this game. Have people forgotten how good Fire Emblem: Awakening was? These guys are one of Nintendo's best teams.
I think the main problem is people are confused by it, saying it's a shooting strategy RPG set in a steampunk world fighting lovecraftian monsters with a silver age comic feel is confusing as hell.
I think I'm weird because that sounds like the most awesome overhyping game(after SSB3DS) of the whole year!!!!!!!!
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

I actually didn't really like Awakening, but I love the Fire Emblem series in general and I have faith in these guys, this looks really interesting.
Don't like Awakening, didn't want to see a new Metroid, and really don't want MM3d?? Defriended.
Haha, I do find that my opinion is quite often completely different to the larger majority.
I don't think Awakening is a bad game as such, but I just found it pretty disappointing compared to other games in the series that I've loved.
It's actually the first Fire Emblem game that I've played but never finished (got really close to the end, but got a little bored and stopped).
I think most people should reserve judgement unit lee actually have some released gameplay footage and a little more in-depth coverage of what the game is like. I for one am excited that they are making a new IP, and one that seems to be a little different from what they already have in their stable of games/genres. I was initially disappointed to here it was another turn-based strategy game, but the third person shooter angle does make it unique compared to the other Intelligent System games. And that pedigree is pretty unmatched, so I think we should be excited.
Also, people need to remember that Nintendo likes to get information directly to fans via directs, so I could see a Majora's Mask remake coming in the form of a direct later on in the year. We know nintendo usually likes to keep their announcements closer to release, so I am not too worried. The trolling from Nintendo is reaching absurd heights though.
Eh, Nintendo fans are like conservatives: scared of change. People will embrace it once they get over the fact that it isn't Metroid, Majora's Mask, Advance Wars, or something of the like.
With that said, I reserve any judgment until we see it in action today.

I plan to purchase this. sounds great and I want to support new IPs. I hope it sells well since it would be nice to play nintendo games that aren't the standard generational sequel. If we want new IPs we need to buy them.

If they're good. I don't blindly throw money at a game if it's a: not good or b: not my style.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
So Treehouse played through the game. I'm sold. At first I as on the fence but the game legitimately looks fun! Graphics are great btw, screenshots don't do it justice, cutscenes are very charming. I can't wait to try I out.
just watched the treehouse presentation and it looked much better than i thought it would. the visuals are way better than the screenshots would suggest. still not a big fan of the overall artstyle and story but the gameplay with the steam for movement and combat is interesting. it's weird though that you can move and go back to get steam back. maybe they can tweak that system in the future.
After seeing about one minute of game play I was sold. Now I'm hyped for this as it looks and looks to play great. Looks like there will be lots of strategy involved and I love that about this game.

I'd like to have Majoria's Mask 3D too, but pick it over a brand new, built ground up for 3DS game? No way. Maybe MM3D will still come, but it should be a low profile game, like all those PS3 HD Collections, not a major part of the E3 reveals. I'm stunned at the poor reaction to this game. I dont think many people that are familiar with their work are going to question the quality of the game....and nobody has played it yet. The art direction and graphics are meh though. Maybe they'll grow on me.
Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

I guess it's not for everyone, but I'm hyped after watching that Treehouse presentation. I love everything about this including the art style. Hopefully this is early 2015.
Those graphics look great to me! More interesting than I was expecting. The cutscenes, however, are disappointing! Mashing all that together just looks ugly IMO unfortunately. I was expecting the cut scenes to be grey or something more like Peace Walker's.
They're going for an old comic book aesthetic. That's what a super hero comicbooks tend to look like, especially back in the day.
