I will get it just so that I am not left behind like I was with the Wii's WiiMotionPlus and Classic Controller. I may not need it right away, but if I have it already, then I won't have to worry.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

Yeah so I'm an idiot because I paid full price for the 3DS? Bite me. I got my value out of it then, still do now, and seeing that I love the NES and GB stuff, the Ambassador goodies pleased me quite a bit and odds are I'd have spent out that much on VC stuff anyway so it's all good. This isn't about being a jerkoff to early adopters, this is about the CPP. Nintendo wasn't dumb, they designed this device as a hand held, read it again slowly and let it sink in, a hand held. 3DS is NOT a console, it isn't fully intended to give you the console experience. Nintendo has always had console like games even as far back a Gameboy, but the focus in those and much others has been a unique experience and pick up and play. The CPP wasn't an after thought, it was big corporate sided pacifier to the baby called Capcom because they wouldn't have played ball otherwise. Kind of ironic considering their run off of those games on the single stick PSP eh? Perhaps like when I had one of those, Capcom learned along with their tired tank controls and already stiff controls that it made it all the more painful and strongly insisted upon it. Beyond that we're now seeing announced and even released (Ace Combat) games that were not designed for it, but when they learned they put it in and came back later in the press saying they threw it in too. The support it gets will either be minor or moderate but not a standard. I can see very console like games like RE Revelations or Kid Icarus and Ace Combat as we know has it now will use it as a suggested option, but the tried and true setup of using the touch pad as the second stick for aiming will be there — even Kid Icarus to save from more blown hand tendons is giving us the standing rack in the game box to save hands everywhere so we know where Nintendo's focus is — stylus first, CPP If you like second.

Getting all hot and stuffy, or in the case of one jerk downright insulting about it is pointless. Buy it or not, it's a choice, you're not forced, and the 3DS wasn't badly designed. Sure the battery could use a little more time as it poops out at around or a little better than what the PSP does so it's not the end of the world. Hopefully like the GBASP Nintendo of Japan will make a double life battery for you to import in a year or two and you can cool your rocks off on that, the really good legitimate issue the device has if you need it for that many hours between recharges.

Absolutely not. If consumers were able to sue companies based on their views of what the orginal product should have been, pretty much every company ever would go out of business. The current design of the 3DS is fine and functional — it's not like they released a non-functioning, defective system and then said "oh, by the way, if you want to actually use it you have to buy this this and this" (and even if that was the case, it'd still be extremely unlikely that any sort of suit could be brought). People love to say "oh, we should sue them" when they're unhappy with something, and don't realize how ridiculous that they are being.

On the other point, i wasn't trying to pretend to be anyone or anything — i was born this way.

Resident Evil Revelations was released in Europe yesterday and I got the copy bundled with the Circle Pad Pro.

It takes getting used to but because it is designed like a regular controller it feels way nicer than only having that square flat 3DS in your hands.

The button response is great but the circle pad itself feels kind of different from the 3DS's which is kind of annoying.

Although I'm not sure whether that's just because the 3DS one was already used for 3 months...

As for the usefulness: It adds two more buttons (ZR and ZL)and obviously the second circle pad and after playing Resident Evil Revelations with and without it for over an hour each I have to say that while the normal controls work great the Circle Pad Pro controls are superior.

I hope lots of games will utilize this accessory. Obviously most games will still offer "traditional" controls so they don't alienate buyers but they really should at least give you the option to use it. (Of course it depends on the game whether it makes sense)

Out of your experiences, would one with long fingers find it comfortable to use?

I might get it anyway because the 3DS is quite heavy for a handheld and I get cramps trying to press the buttons and the circle pad.

I just put down all $20 for the CPP! Once it comes out in Feb (here in NA) I will run to GameStop, pick it up, and play my RE Revelations Demo with it!

I also saw a PSVita at GameStop today. It was in a display case, but it reassured me. Looking online I heard that the CPP would make the 3DS as wide as a PSVita. Well, I happened to have my 3DS on me at the time so I held it up and made a comparison. It looks like the CPP will do just what it needs. Add the extra buttons and circle pad. It doesn't make the system overly huge or anything!

BTW, the PSVita looks cool too, but I'm sticking with my 3DS for two reasons. 1st, I love Nintendo and my 3DS; and 2nd, I'm poor, so I couldn't afford it anyway. Also, I want to know HOW one would put it in their pocket... The Analog Sticks actually stick out about 3 mm, thus getting rid of the sleekness of the PSP3000 and the "covering" of the PSP Go!.

what? an afterthought? what is this madness! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

lol but anyway, I don't see why people get upset about this still (ok I was a little like why do we need this it looks ugly! at first) I mean it's an "Optional" thing. It's not like Nintendo is forcing anyone to buy this in fact. It was capcom that requested the 2nd stick for Monster hunter... so Why sue nintendo haha. Anyway. I'll already have this fully pre ordered.

though only games I'll use this for are MH, KH games like that, because I don't want to wear out my L button re centering the camera every 30 seconds

Hint: Circle Pad Pro costs less than a new system.
Hint the second: Nintendo still hasn't announced anything from themselves that even optionally uses both pads.
Hint the final: It's sold only at GameStops. They may never use it themselves.

Wow! It's great to see so many people sticking up the for original 3DS design. As much as I hate Frankenstick, I guess it's not so bad as long as stays as a add-on. If a 3DS redesign (one that included the second slider) were to happen then developer laziness would go into effect and we'd end up with some crappy dual analog games. After a redesign goes into effect, then developers won't have any reason to do anything other than dual analog for their games. It's time for people to join the 21st century control wise.

I agree with whoever stated that this was an after thought forced on Nintendo by Capcom to get Monster Hunter on the system. My biggest gripe about MH Tri was the poor camera (or lack thereof ) that could have easily been rectified by a decent auto camera or a quick recentering button like Zelda uses. This is simply laziness on Capcom's part, and something they should have worked out for the PSP Monster Hunter games. Instead they forced gamers to adapt the carpal tunnel inducing "claw" method of holding the PSP.

I am not against having various options for different control methods, but I personally hate dual analog. I for one was happy that Nintendo didn't put two sliders on their original design for the 3DS. The CPP is good in that it gives people who want Dual Analog that option without forcing it on those of us who don't.

I do have to say that I'm impressed with the sheer amount of control options Capcom has for Resident Evil: Revelations. For now it look-like the gyro controls are the way to go for me, they are surprisingly super accurate. (Much more so than Face Raiders and those stupid AR games.) I just wish more designers would take note (and yes I mean you Capcom!) and come up with differing control schemes for their games.

I don't know where you live but in Germany it's sold in every store that sells Nintendo products. Maybe GameStop just was quick enough to make a contract with Nintendo in your area...

He's talking about America, which in addition to being the exclusive retail outlet of the CCP, is (currently) the only store Xenoblade will come to. No one knows for sure why this is; my personal theory is that by keeping the two isolated in a national video-game specialty store, Nintendo can avoid another PR nightmare by not reminding the casual consumer who may or may not remember OpRa & Xenoblade's connection (specifically Nintendo's "We're not publishing Xenoblade in NA; get over it" statement). As for the CCP, Nintendo may want to avoid casual consumers (and those with little kids) who would think that the CCP makes the 3DS ugly, a bad system or that the CCP is a forced add-on, all of which would be bad for a company flirting with disaster.

Exactly.

Your second point is false; Kid Icarus will be supporting the Circle Pad Add-on.

I don't agree with that. If no one bought it they would of had to deal with factory problems much later. Nintendo was just trying to make money and they have been giving away way more than anyone thought to compensate for a few years of bad habits.

Does anyone still use their Circle Pad Pro? I do quite often with Kingdom Hearts 3D, Resident Evil Revelations, and as a more comfortable grip with Kid Icarus.
