To my absolute dismay, my 3DS dropped into a water-laden sink yesterday. Since then, I'd taken the battery out and immersed it and the rest of the handheld in rice. Note that when I took it out, the screens went dim momentarily before the device powered down. I've ordered a replacement battery online in hopes that only that got fried.
Considering the water was cold and didn't contain anything else yet (no dishes, no dishwashing liquid etc.) and it was only in there for less than 2 seconds, what are the chances it'll be up and running again with a new battery? I know it may be pretty silly to ask this question, but I thought I'd try my luck anyway. Anything for some peace of mind ><!
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Yeah I have, although it's linked to my club Nintendo account, so I believe recovering those won't be too much hassle.
It's quite ridiculous, really - our kitchen is rather cramped, and the door handles are all in the worst positions possible. One day one of my pockets with my 3DS in it got caught while I was in a hurry, and it jerked it so hard the 3DS got flung into the sink right before I was about to do the dishes. That just sounds ridiculous...
I would, considering some of the games that are coming out for it But I don't want to burn another $400 on a handheld xP

Wait a minute. I'll try to do the same with my 3DS and tell the results and see if that helps you
One minute later...
Well, I was too afraid to drop my 3DS but I hope yours will be okay.
True story: my DSi fell into a, er, bowl of water once and made a full recovery. I wrapped it in towels and put it in an airing cupboard for a day or two; eventually it was absolutely fine and went on to last me until I upgraded to 3DS.
Yes, yes it was definitely on when it dropped Standby mode, anyway.
@James that's good to know, cheers I'll give it a week before I decide to get a new one! I'm dying to play Valkyrie Profile and Knights in the Nightmare, so I hope I won't have to wait a whole, excruciating week hehe.
Maybe Nintendo would be able to repair it for less than a new one, or I did hear of them offering someone a refurb at a reduced cost when their system broke out of warranty. You should contact Nintendo because you'll need their help to get your games transferred anyway, assuming the system is toast (which I pretty much am assuming, sorry to say).
Yeah, I did attempt the dry rice thing, though I can't say it worked, even after about 30 hours . I'll give it a bit longer, I guess!
With transferring games, does that apply even if I have my eShop account linked to my Club Nintendo one? I assumed the option to link them when you first use the eShop is for situations such as these, so you could easily transfer the purchases between 3DSes
edit: Oh wait, you'd need to provide your old serial code to Nintendo or else you could have multiple 3DSes linked to one Club Nintendo account. Right
The trouble is there's no way for you to transfer the games without having your old system in working condition. Having your Club Nintendo account linked might help prove what games you've purchased so you can get Nintendo to help you, but it doesn't actually give you the means to do anything by yourself.
Ah, okay fair enough =S. I guess if I have both the serial and a memory of just about every single eShop/DSiWare title I purchased, it shouldn't be too hard to prove I owned it previously and get Nintendo's help in transferring everything...I hope :L
@jyting I hope everything works out.
I'd imagine that at the least Nintendo will be able to help you get your downloads back.
I would have freaked out so bad if that was my 3DS. D:
Cheers. I wouldn't say I'm freaked out, I'm just slightly disappointed that I won't be able to play the plethora of awesome DS games I just bought recently . At least I still have my Wii!

Good luck!
pretty much this. electronic devices will work again if you just let get them dry and won't turn them on for like 2 days.
not sure if it works when the device was ON and hit the water
