I beat the Dsi one once, now I'm trying to beat it again with the 'best' ending.
This looks EPIC! The graphics look great. I hope it has the all of the extra features the Wii version had. With this and Pilotwings, the 3DS launch lineup might not be so bad after all...
Dang how many versions of this are they going to make? As long as it's just a graphical facelift and no drastic changes to the overall game I'll be getting it for sure. After this they should finally make a sequel. Let's quit milking the original and give us something new.

Hopfuly, there making the game Bigger and longer, with more New Endings, but, i'm not dugg'in the new 3D look, I think there better off, making it in Cel-shaded 3D, like Wind Waker.

I'll still get it even though I have the DSiware game. I hope they add more 'caves' to explore after you beat the game.. DLC or even purchasing new content with those PLAY COINS!!!

Cave Story 3D. One word - OMGIGottaFlippingBuyThis! I hope they keep the story straight though, even maybe with a few tweaks. Original gameplay, with a few surprises. Yeah.

they're milking cave story for sure, but i don't care as long as this is the last iteration of the game they make. rather than a graphical upgrade like the wiiware version was this one is something entirely different, not better or worse but a totally different parallel style. it'll be really weird to see how a game that thrived on retro 2D 8 bit style translates to modern 3D, but something tells me it'll work great.
There's a lot of concept art in this article. Very Tim Burton...in a good way (if that makes any sense). It's going to take a lot of getting used to. They're clearly going in a much darker direction with this game, artistically, which makes sense given the insanely dark story. But the dark story always worked, for me, because of its contrast from the charming world and characters. There are certainly artistically dark areas of Cave Story; Final Cave, for example, or the Egg Corridor. But I'm not sure I like the idea of Mimiga Village being so drab and depressing. We'll have to see. I'm really hoping they include the original version in the game in the package, just so newcomers can see how it evolved.
I'm skeptical, but still very excited.

I think it's an adaptation too far, but I'll still probably buy it when I get my 3DS. EU/AUS still doesn't have the DSiWare version, so this anouncement has pretty much killed the hype for that one - thats not to say we'd have to wait another 9 months for the 3DS one to hit our shops.
But it's retail, so realistically, it take anywhere from 1 week to a full year...
I'd certainly like to see the sequel though, as long as it isn't rushed, and not made for the sake of capitilising on the original's hype.
Looks cool. I've had my fill of Cave Story with the PC and WiiWare versions though, so "an adaptation too far" as edhe said is about on the mark for me.
Also why are people commenting on Quote's "new" chibi look? He was chibi in all the other versions too.
At first I didn't like the new color scheme/dark depressing setting of the new Mimiga Village, especially since the village always gave me a jollyish/lighthearted vibe in the WW/PC versions of the game, but then I remembered that it is supposed to be underground, and now it look better. the color scheme definitely looks like real caves I've been in, and it might compliment the semi serious story, I think.
