Topic: Castlevania LoS MoF... worth the price?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if I should buy this game.
I enjoyed a lot Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow and Circle of the Moon. I was eager to get Portrait of Ruin or Order of Eclessia when I bought the 3ds, but had no luck finding any copy and in my country they doesn't seems to exist...

I'm not a big fan, of the LoS saga, it looked nice so I played the first one, but I believe they twisted the story and the gameplay so much that I basically kinda felt like playing a remapped God of War, so I quit it after 3 hours.

On the other side, this seems to be the only Castlevania (not classic) that the 3DS has, so I have to basically play this or no one. I tried the demo and seemed decent. I read reviews and opinions, and I found ratings from 3 to 9 ...

What's your suggestion?

there is a demo on the eshop. the demo was my first taste of castlevania ever and i quite liked it. the visuals on the 3DS are beautiful in 3D. i dont like the combat though. maybe it's ecause i dont like these kind of fighting mechanics anyway. that's the reason i never bought this game. maybe i will pick it up if i see it for 10€ someday

I tried the demo and despised its combat mechanics. Tedious. Not my Castlevania I'm afraid.

Just so you know, the combat is much much less of a focus in other Castlevania games, relying more on simple hitting and dodging, giving it more of a Mega Man feel as opposed a God Of War/Devil May Cry feel in Mirror of Fate.

Hmmm.. So I should better buy again SoTN for my Vita for 10USD (too much for a game I finished 3 times) and stay away from MoF...

I loved MoF, I highly recommend it. Fun combat.

Having been indifferent towards the Castlevania series all these years, I really enjoyed LoS-MoF. But, I'm assuming that's because I played it with no previous experience in the series and no expectations. From what I've gathered, the comabt difference pointed out by CanisWolfred seems to me to be the point of contention for Castlevania fans. That's fair enough, I'd be miffed if my fave series was tampered with.
Given your stated preference, I get the feeling you'd be more disappointed with it.
As it is, LoS-MoF is a good game (one of the best looking in 3D), but possibly not a good Castlevania game. I'll leave that up to the series fans to decide.

Its not a a good game. Pick up Dawn of Sorrow on the DS instead if you haven't played it.

I am confused your profile says your from the US so I am assuming you are from the US. Did you try Amazon for PoR I have seen it mainly times there for less then $25

I can tell you it is a hard title to find in used stores like Gamestop cause I spent well over a year looking for PoR untill one day I happen by chance to find it at a local retro game shop for $20. It's hard to find but it does exist.

Anyway back on topic Mirror of Fate seems to be a mixed bad some like it some don't. As someone who liked the Metroidvania style but not a fan of the older NES Castlevania'a I found MoS very enjoyable. It's one of my favorite 3DS games to date. While the combat is a bit different then other Castlevania games it's not bad IMO.

Get Dracula X Chronicles instead. (Got the original versions of Rondo of Blood and SoTN in it). Also all PSP stuff looks great on the Vita. (Double number of Pixels).

I can vouch for this. The game was my first PS Vita purchase, and it is AMAZING.
