I was really looking forward to this but was a little disappointed by the demo. The 2D Castlevania's controls feel tighter and more responsive to me, whereas this felt slower and "heavier". The animations and physics felt a little slow too, but I guess that's the trade-off moving to polygons...
Having played the demo I'd rather pull teeth than play the full game. But hey, perhaps magic happens and the game actually gets interesting at some point later on.
What should i get, this or Lego City undercover? I really love the Castlevania series but Lego City looks good too...

@IAmNotWill: The other games are great but the play different than MoF. Some are platformers while others like SotN are Metriodvania type. Still if you havent played them before you dont know what you are missing.
Anyhow back on topic, I downloaded the demo and I have got to say I was impressed. I wasn't a big fan of Lord of Shadows whole God of War playstyle for the 360/PS3 reboot but the story was interesting. I thought that this one would be alot like that but I find it more of a combination of all the Castlevania playstyles. There were elements like the early Castlevania games mainly like Castlevania IV where you have to swing to places using your whip but the level layout had more of a Metroidvania style to it like SotN, or DoS. However boss battles and combat was like the God of War Lord of Shadows type. To me its almost the perfect blend. It took me awhile to get use to the enemies being a bit tougher and having to take your time and not having the ability to charge through them like in SotN but once I got the hang of it I got use to it.
Looking forward to this one indeed.

I quite liked the demo. It was a little tough at first, but once you get used to the mechanics, you feel a little bad@ss. I especially liked the special finishing moves you can pull off if an enemy is stunned (both bosses in the demo had to be killed with the special, but you can do it to regular enemies as well). The platforming was well done, IMO, and while the FPS was a little slow, the game looked good overall.
I don't have the money for retail games at the moment, but it has made me interested in the series, so I'll probably DL the Castlevania Adventure soon, to get acquainted to the series proper.

I'm going to warn you off again one more time stay far away from the turd of a gameboy game. It's the worst in the series of Castlevaina games and not worth a dime. I warned ya in the download topic but I noticed you don't read a lot of other people's comments lol. It's a total waste of money. Start anywhere else please!
As for the demo I really loved it. The frame rate didn't bother me one bit really. The 3d effect like waveboy said was amazing and very well done for this style of a game. I like how it still has that metroid feel to it while giving you a greater challenge. I checked the moves list on my second play through and oh my there is a ton! Definitely day one for me now and as for floaty jumping I done really see it waveboy. It's suits this style of game better since its not straight forward 2d. Excellent combat with good graphics. Now if the story matchs the rest we have a grade a winner!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

The NES game isn't on the eShop yet (in NA), and from my ambassador experience, I didn't really care for NES games on the 3DS in general, which is why I'll start with the GB game.
I know it's not a very good entry in the series, but I'll take that into consideration while playing (and I believe the game is mostly said to be bad because of cheap difficulty, which can be alleviated with restore points).

I wasn't terribly impressed by the demo. Mostly a framerate thing with me; I like my games nice and smooth, or at least not like that. To all those that liked it regardless, this is looking pretty good, though.

Castlevania: The Adventure isn't great by any means, mostly due to the tortoise paced gameplay, but its worth trying out for the first stage's music alone.
Well after playing the demo I'm actually considering the game. It looked wonderful in 3D, though this was one of the few games where I could tell a difference in the FPS. I was surprised at how hard the game was though. The first wave of enemies murdered me but that's not to say I don't enjoy a challenge.

Castlevania: The Adventure was a total waste of money.
The demo for MoF finally hit NA this Thursday, and I have to say, I have mixed feelings. On one hand, it is one of most spectacular-looking 3DS games I've seen in a while. The FPS chugged a bit, but honestly, after playing through Code of Princess, it doesn't bother me that much. I like the more Metroid-vania feel of the gameplay but dislike the combat. Feels too much like GoW.
It looks decent, and I'd get it if there weren't so many awesome 3DS games coming out soon. I'll probably end up getting this by next year.
Hi guys, I'm new here. Picked up a 3DS in December and been checking out Nintendolife frequently since then.
Played a bit of the demo and I have mixed feelings. Graphics and atmosphere are absolutely beautiful, the use of 3D is great, I like the fact that the combat is pretty tough, but the controls definitely feel clunky, especially the double-jump mechanics, and the frame rate is an issue. Also, it seems like the game gives you a ton of combat options but repeated button mashing seems to do the job on most enemies. I was looking forward to buying this game when it was released but am not sure now.
One question I had - how do you kill the Resident Evil 4-style boss on the bridge? I deplete him of all his power, but after staggering for a few seconds, he regains half his strength. Is there some sort of QTE event one needs to activate?
Demo looked really good, but I didn't really enjoy it that much :/
