Hey guys
I have a little problem in my second run through pokemon blue. I got the HM for flash and none of my pokemon can learn it. a quick search showed me I can teach it to two of the pokemon I have- weepinble and butterfree- but in game it wont let me. it says they cant learn it

I guess it is some kind of a bug, but is there a way to fix it? thanks =]

Weepinbel cannot learn Flash, and Butterfree can only learn it in Yellow.

@Joeynator3000 Oh, that explains it XD so the source that said they can learn in at blue was a mistake XD

which pokemon can learn flash? I now have Weepinble, butterfree, Wartortle, Pidgeotto, Sandslash and Rattata in my party. are there any pokemon I can catch and teach flash before ruck tunnel? =

Haven't touched the old games since the Gameboy days, so I don't know...going to guess either Zubat or Geodude.

@G0dlike I... guess I would have been better with a mew in my party XP such a reliable little creature

anyway, aside from pikachu in viridian forest, which pokemon can learn that annoying move? ><

Joeynator3000

I looked it up, you can teach Flash mostly to Electric types, and sometimes Psychics...so...

pikachu can be caught pretty early and is basically only good for Flash. However, you can navigate through the dark tunnel without Flash, that is how I did it for years before I found Flash lol

I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

@VoltageX Pikachu, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Abra, Slowpoke, Magnemite, Drowzee, Voltorb, Chansey, Staryu, Mr. Mime, Electabuzz, Jolteon and Porygon (& evolutions of course) can learn flash in RB.

Use Bulbapedia as a source (or Serebii), those two sites are most reliable. Bulbapedia is more useful in this case.

Well I looked it up on Serebii, have always used that site when looking at/planning movesets.

@Joeynator3000 Problem is that Serebii doesn't have a list for HM/TM compatibility for RB specifically. There's one for gen 3, but Pokemon like Koffing and Bulbasaur show also up in that list, despite the fact that they couldn't learn Flash in RB yet (or Butterfree, which can only learn Flash starting from Yellow). Serebii has most other stuff though and is my preferred site if I just want to look at movesets, but if you're looking for HM/TM compatibility for gen 1 and 2, Bulbapedia provides a much better guide.

Yeah I noticed there weren't any lists like that, but you can still click on that Pokemon to see what TMs/HMs and other moves they could still learn in those games.

@Link-Hero Only Rock Tunnel is dark in gen 1. Mt. Moon is just a regular cave.

@Link-Hero There is only 1 cave in Gen 1 that is dark and you can use Flash and it is not Mt. Moon. You actually go through Mt. Moon before you can get Flash. I believe the cave is called Rock Tunnel. The cave layout is very simple and easy enough to get through without Flash, except for 1 room, but even then it isn't too difficult. I haven't played the 3DS VC version but I wonder if the system back light actually makes it easier. Flash really isn't needed.
