Has anyone had problems with the top screen?
When I move my console even slightly, I get what appears to be a shadow like effect moving accross the screen. It has been back to Nintendo twice now. This time they have sent me a new console but it exhibits exactly the same problem!
Here is a YouTube link showing the problem.

Any comments more than welcome because I am getting nowhere with Nintendo.

Is the same problem present when the 3D effect is off? Is it on during the video?

It's exactly the same effect wherever you position the slider.

Even when it's completely clicked into the off position? Because, to myself, the shadow seems similar to that of the one that appears when the 3DS is moved out of its stereoscopic "sweet spot" position. And it's a bit strange how both systems are affected. I know might sound daft but just make sure you have the slider down as far as it can go.

Cheers Ben,
I have clicked the slider to the off position and it is very slightly better. I have a 3DS also and the screen on that is perfect.
Can't understand it. If they are all like this, I don't see how anyone could stand to play it with 3D turned on!

That's definitely a strange problem indeed. The fact that its present with the 3D effect disabled is troubling on its own right.

Generally, would you say the effect gets worse the further up the 3D slider is positioned? Also, do you by any chance find it less noticeable when you're outside of the main menu; like, for example, when you're in a game? I find that the shadows influenced by the 3D effect are at their worst there?

Finally, where is the top screen positioned? As I'm sure you've noticed, the XL has three default positions that the top screen can click into. One that goes almost straight up, one that's slanted and one that's almost flat with the touch screen. Which one is yours in while you use it?

I just checked it with Mario Kart and with the slider clicked 'off' I would say it playable (ish). However, with 3D turned on regardless of where you place the slider, the display is really awful as can be seen in the video.
I have the screen in the middle position by the way. although, if you place it in any of the other 2 positions it makes no difference. Still awful!

actually i thought something was weird when i tried the XL at futureshop not the fire emblem 3ds which had this weird screen thing you described as well so basing it off that alone it seems to be a issue or not assuming thats how its suppose to be among XL models

i've never had that kind of a problem with the 3D on my XL. I don't really use it much though.

I dont think its a problem, the shadowing while the 3d on is a normal thing. But if it exist while the 3d is off then return it to the shop where you bought it from and they will exchange it for you.
