I always prefer physical. On the 3DS I have absolutely no incentive to buy digital retail titles. They are poorly priced versus physical copies, but the lack of a proper account system is the real deal breaker. The arguments for digital can't outweigh that. Either way, my 3DS case has room for 3 games so it's no trouble carrying multiple titles at once. I also do all of my shopping online, which is perfectly convenient for me, especially when preordering.
I have bought a few download versions of retail titles on the PSP, PS3 and Vita simply because the prices have been too good to resist. Unfortunately, the huge size of many PS3 retail titles is a real annoyance when it comes to downloading because it takes so long. I would have a similar issue with PS4 and Xbox One titles.
