Which do you think was the best leap in the technology from old Gameboy to new Gameboy?

GB to GBC

GBC to GBA

GBA to 3DS

To me i loved the leap from GBC to GBA ....the Advance was just so much better than the GBC and the games just looked so much better and sounded great.. The new rechargable battery was the coolest thing every too

You forgot the important "GBA to DS" jump and the "DS to 3DS".

I though GBC was a big jump, then to DS, then 3DS. GBA SP, and Lite were kind of big too, having way better lights for the screen though... DS was probably the biggest jump IMHO, going from 2d, to 3d polygons.

For handhelds, it was DS to 3DS. There was a BIG leap there. If you don't think it was, I'd also go with GBA to DS, as there was a big leap in technology there too.

For home consoles, SNES to N64 or GCN to Wii. N64 was ahead of its time when it came out, 64 bit in a 32 bit world. Wii brought motion controls, which was also really big.

op is really weird.

i wouldnt say GB to GBC was a big jump. felt like a half jump.
GBA to DS though was really big. and DS to 3DS too, cause ds had like n64 graphics and the 3DS has xbox or almost xbox360 graphics and 3D and a home menu you can activate at any time!

Well, does DS to 3DS count? After all, there was the DS lite and DSi.

Oh, sorry.
Then I'd go with GBA to DS or DS to 3DS

Lets just say all of them were jumps, because they were. I meant GBC to GBA, then to DS was the biggest in graphics, and DS to 3DS was big in online features whether there is linked accounts yet, or not.

In terms of quality games, probably GB to GBA. Despite being technically replaced a little more than 3 years by DS, it had a phenomenal amount of great games and gets bonus points for not being around when VC made getting old Nintendo games far cheaper because GBA had a lot of remakes. Most of which were even really good!

DS probably wins in terms of innovation and sales.

For me it was GBC to GBA. It seemed like the games went from abbreviated experiences to full experiences.

I have to agree with that statement. I remember the first game I played on a GBA was Breath of Fire (which I owned and beat on the SNES years before) and I was just amazed on how they could fit a SNES quality game in a handheld cartridge when just a few years ago the biggest games would take like a few hours to finish due to the size limitation.

I will say while I agree, a rebuttal:
Pokemon Silver/Gold/Crystal. YOU WANT KANTO, WE'LL GIVE YOU KANTO

If you want to know how to make a game mindblowing without the game itself being mindblowing, just add a ton of unnecessary but awesome bonus content. Seriously, when you first ended up in Kanto as a kid, I looked at the map and couldn't believe that I saw the entire previous game was suddenly in this game. It was crazy man. Other great examples being stuff like Rogue Squadron 3 literally having Rogue Squadron 2 in its entirety in CO-OP mode, Advance Wars 2 insane amount of content (GBA GAMES WITH A LEVEL EDITOR?!) or Mario Kart DS being a handheld online game where I can race on a course from Double Dash.

^I'll have to agree with your assessment of Gold/Silver's bonus content. That was probably one of the biggest "OMG, this is awesome!" moments I had as a kid.
