Hello everybody, this is my first time writing in here, i´ve been reading the forum for over a year now, but it´s my first time writing.
I apologize in advance, english is not my first language.

I´m 28 and this is my story on how Nintendo made me back on gaming after 12 years without playing a single video game.

When i was a kid i used to have Sega consoles(Genesis and Sega Saturn) and Sony(PS1 and PS2); i had a GameBoy and a GameBoy Colour; i also had a NES but i remember very little of it, i had Mario, Mega-Man and some others and that was all.
I was very found of rpgs and games alike: Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Suikoden, Legend of the Dragoon, Grandia, Wild Arms, Star Ocean, Crono Cross, Kingdom Hearts, etc. So i never played stuff like Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong and Mario was just a few games. But back to the story, when i was 14 i didn´t have a lot of money, and i just got addicted to anime and online manga, and with school and training i had to let go of something, and i remember playing Final Fantasy XII and being very disapointed, and a couple of other PS2 games that gave me the same feeling of boredom and disapointment. So after this i abandoned Video Games. I was allways a big anime, movie, manga fan.

And for 12 years i never felt the need of playing again, until last year´s November, when i was at home in a Saturday morning and saw a Pokemon X/Y Commercial(i had played Blue/Red, Yellow, Gold and Fire Red), and i was really shocked on how awesome the game looked after all those years. And that momment got me thinking, so i went online and start searching and found out that there were 2 new Nintendo consoles: 3DS(2 years old at the time) which i thought was the original DS and the WII U(which i also thought was the original WII, the DS and the WII were really a hit here). Then, after a couple of sites, youtube videos of games like a Link Between Worlds, Bravely Default, Fire Emblem, Luigi´s Mansion and Ocarina of Time and the fact that i could play the DS games as well i made my mind of buying the 2DS bundle with Pokemon X; i didn´t wanna spend too much money on a thing that i would probably left behind after a couple of months.
So, by Christmas time i had my 2DS with Pokemon and that was just the begining, i was sold and very happy with my purchase, now i have tons of games to play (but little time ) and i´m having a blast with Nintendo games, games that i never cared about when i was young ..a year has passed and i now own a WII U with Bayonetta 1+2, Wind Waker, Hyrule Warriors, 3D World, Arkham City, Link to the Past and Golden Sun; i also bought a PS Vita to play JRPG´s . But i still think the 3DS has my favorite games, and the ones i look forward the most, my game log of finished games is:
1 - Bravely Default (114 hours)
2 - Pokemon X (54 hours)
3 - Fantasy Life (51 hours)
4 - Pokemon Omega Ruby (39 hours)
5 - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (35 hours)
6 - Professor Layton and the Specter´s Call (30 hours)
7 - The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (29 hours)
8 - Chrono Trigger (27 hours)
9 - Professor Layton and the Lost Future (22 hours)
10 - Luigi´s Mansion 2: Dark Moon (21 hours)
11 - Super Mario 3D Land (19 hours)
12 - The Legend of Zelda: A Ling Between Worlds (18 hours)
13 - Professor Layton and the Curious Village (18 hours)
14 - Mario Kart 7 (16 hours)
15 - Professor Layton and the Pandora´s Box (16 hours)
16 - Castlevania Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate (15 hours)
17 - Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (12 hours)
18 - New Super Mario Bros 2 (9 hours)

My favorite ones(from the 3DS) are A Link Between Worlds and Luigi Mansion 2, from the DS is Chrono Trigger.

Anyway, this long, boring speech to tell you how Nintendo brought me back into video games , and i´m still waiting to play a bunch of other awesome games: Fire Emblem Awakening, all the Mario and Luigi RPG´s, Majora´s Mask, Xenoblade, the new Zelda for the WII U, Captain Toad, Bravely Second and many other WII U and 3DS games(i´ll wait for the New 3DS to buy the XL version).
I´m still getting the hang of concepts like first party and third party games, but i´ll get there .
So my thanks go to Nintendo for making a console with such a huge library of games so good(to my tastes)that i had to start playing again .

I'm very happy for you, Shin. This somewhat resembles my story. I've become very disillusioned with gaming, so much that I've sold both my PS4 and a decent gaming PC. I thought I was done with it. I was sick and tired of all the games that required gigabytes of patches just to run properly, all the false PR garbage and all the arguing that surrounded PC, Playstation and Xbox gaming scene (disclaimer: this is just my opinion, I don't require anyone to agree with me).

One day, I was going through some drawers and found my 7 year old DS. First I played Dawn of Sorrow. Then I booted up Dragon Quest IX and I'm having a BLAST playing it (haven't had that much fun in years). Now I've decided to buy N3DS (when it appears in Europe). There is a certain simplicity in Nintendo systems. I can't explain how, but DS rekindled my love for gaming. I'm sure that N3DS will keep the flame burning.

sweet story, you've totally played through some gold class games there on the 3DS. i don't have a Wii U so can't comment as much on those games.

you must be one of those people that missed out on all the DS games, you should go check out all the top 25 videos of them and see how good all the great games on the DS are!

Cool. Glad you stuck it out with Bravely Default. Too many people seem to get put off by the second half of the game. I don't know how you feel, but the awesome ending really took the game out on a high note, in my opinion.

We have a recommendations thread here, but I'll mention one you might not have heard of: Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. Probably the handheld game of the generation for me. It's on both Vita and 3DS, but I personally prefer the 3DS version due to the ability to easily make notes with the stylus.

Also, Ace Attorney games are awesome. The first three were recently just re-released digitally on the 3DS for $30. They're three of the best adventure games I've ever played, so I highly recommend that, too.

Great story, Shin. Being a Nintendo fan has its hurdles from time to time, but it's also immensely rewarding. Ever since I started playing on my old NES, I thought they were the best game developers around, with their extremely polished and incredibly fun games, and this hasn't changed to this day.

Welcome, and see you around.

Yes, but i already have a ton of DS games to play : The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, The World Ends with you, Dragon Quest IX, The Ace Attorney Trilogy, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, New Super Mario Bros, Castlevania: Portait of Ruin, Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story and Partners in Time, Mario 64...and some others i can´t remember now.

Bravely Default was exactly what i needed to recapture the Final Fantasy moments of the PS One, the second half was a bit boring, but the awesome ending really made made up for that. I can´t wait to play Bravely Second, the main characters look much more interesting than the ones on Default.
