I'm 29 (yes, that means I'm ancient to the good lot of the people here — I've played Pac-Man on the Atari).

19.
I don't have a job, I just scratched together whatever I could find and eventually I had enough. 'Sides, I bought mine about a month after the launch and actually got a pretty good deal on it.

I have a Backloggery now! Nothin' fancy, but feel free to add me as a friend.

26 and a student. Not living at home with my parents either, on my own for a few years now. And I had a part time student job and got the money that way.

While $250 is a lot and does pay for quite a few things it's not that hard to save up.

@k8sMum: Excuse me? I kind of take offense to that. I don't think 18 is "a little kid." I'm quite aware that $250 dollars is a sizable chunk of change but c'mon, one would not require a full time job just to afford one. Its not like its a freakin car! Anyone who isn't homeless or something (Even a "kid" living at home) could quite easily just save money they come into for a while and easily build 250 dollars. I am also aware that life is not all peaches and cream and quite hard which is why I do still live with my parents. Why would I want to step into all that before I have too?

I'm 12 and started saving since I heard about it at E3 (when I was 11). I even started a buisness at my school selling bands which resulted in many migraines, although I made $100 in profit .

@bboy: no offense, but you have barely any life experience and you're trying to tell people that it's 'easy' to save that much money and then spend it on something frivolous as opposed to requirements for living such as utilities, rent, car payments and/or insurance fees, home upkeep, and a myriad of other surprise expenses — and i'm not even going into providing for dependants and/or children. you're making your own choices, and that's fine, but from where you're coming from, to say it's 'easy' for everyone to not only manage to set aside that much money but then to blow it on something so frivolous is absolutely laughable IMO. You're lucky all she did was laugh at you :3

I'm 18 and jobless and have one. But that is mainly because for my birthday last year (August) I told my parents I wanted nothing except an agreement to buy the 3DS come time for its release. That left my own money (Which I had been saving for quite some time) free to buy many launch games. BTW, I don't think one would require a full-time job just to afford a 3DS. I mean $250 is a lot of money but it isn't THAT much. A little saving and most anyone could own it.

And that isn't what I'm arguing with. No doubt that being 18 I don't have that much life experience. I had more of a problem with the condescending attitude of the poster. It just kind of came off to me as rude.

not seeing a problem with her reply other than perhaps the fact that she didn't make any attempt to educate you regarding why your assumption was mistaken, which frankly isn't her job anyway, so i can't fault her for it. again, you're lucky all she did was have a laugh :3

anyway, let's get back to the topic please. i'm 28.

True things can be said in less rude ways. For example, TBD's comment had about the same idea and it didn't come off as rude at all.
