I should note, if I got rid of all but the best DS games and all but the best 3DS games, the numbers come out to be a lot closer. The DS still beats it out by about 5 or 6 games, but the 3DS still fairs pretty well, all things considered.
I own 19 physical copies, 11 digital retail games, 15 DSiWare, 5 3DS classics, 12 Virtual Console games, and 20 3DSWare games.
I have 7 Wii U Physical games and 10 eShop games on it and 3 digital retail games. There are a bunch of games that I want for both, like Super Smash Bros Wii U, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Yoshi`s Woolly World, SMT vs FE, Zelda, Star Fox, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Mario Maker, Devil`s Third, Mighty No 9, Legend of Kay Anniversary, Codename Steam, Tetris Ultimate, Lego Jurassic World, Fossil Fighters Frontier, Puzzle & Dragons Z/Puzzle & Dragons SMB edition, Story of Seasons, XC3D, Hatsune Miku Project Diva DX, Rodea the Sky Soldier, Project X Zone 2 and Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold.
By the end of next year, it should also pass my current PS2 collection of 42 games. Currently announced games that I'm planning on buying:
01. Lords of Magna: Maiden Heaven
02. Etrian Odyssey Untold 2: Knight of Fafnir
03. Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson
04. Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3
05. Project X Zone 2
06. Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX
07. Fire Emblem If
08. Etrian Odyssey V (pending localization)
09. Bravely Second (pending localization)
10. Dragon Quest VII 3D (pending localization and pigs flying)
11. Dragon Quest VIII 3D (pending localization)
I own more PSP games(about 45) than you have PS2 games. I don't have a DS and don't own a 3DS yet, so I can't compare those.
If I were to compare my DS and 3DS library, my 3DS retail selection would probably be less than half the number of titles I've got for DS. With the DS, there are also quite a few titles I have yet to play and still would like to get. I don't own Metroid Prime Pinball, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania Portrait of Ruin, Castlevania Order of Ecclesia, 999, Brain Age 2, Clubhouse Games, Kirby Canvas Curse, Mega Man Zero Collection, Ghost Detective and it goes on. On the 3DS side, there is nothing I haven't got or upcoming that I would really like to play. Maybe the Majora's Mask remake and the Xenoblade port, but that's about it. It needs more diversity in my opinion, and definitely needs a new Metroid game.
"The secret to ultimate power lies in the Alimbic Cluster."
I never owned a DS, so obviously I own more 3DS games, though I am currently starting to explore the DSes library aswell.

Quite a list. Feeling a bit embarrassed. But there are just so many great games on the handheld.
And I only own it since 2 years. Buried alive in games. Oh lord. And I have a job and friends to visit. I'll never catch up on my backlog (cannot really understand people complaining about not enough games on Wii U either, it's the perfect console to have next to the busy 3DS...if you didn't buy them day 1 at least and maybe even didn't own their predecessors).
I have to admit that I didn't even start playing some of them and did not finish many of them.
Some of them probably have to remain unfinished forever due to me lacking motivation or having a similar better game (like MH4 instead of MH3). And these are of course only the retail games, not the e-shop ones (I get only eshop exclusive content there).
Never want to come down, never want to put my feet back down on the ground.
Well, in Europe and even Amazon Europe there are still plenty left on the shelves. Ocarina of Time I am saying. Star Fox is indeed hard to find in stores, though it is still present on Amazon, but right now twice as pricey as it used to be 2 years ago (45 Euro). Saw it on a shelf in Gamestop as a preowned and I think I have to pick it up at some point.
Never want to come down, never want to put my feet back down on the ground.
Of your listed 36 I didn't own only 8 of those. I'm sure I have just as many or more like had at one point. I'm probably pushing 40 games and also want more from the list that you listed. Of those 8 I probably want 3 to 4 Of those as well.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
All I have say is good luck finding a physical copy of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D and Star Fox 64 3D both games are out of print.
Who are you replying to? Everyone in this thread seems to either already have them or not want them.
Had a hard time figuring that out too, but noticed he probably refers to Chaoz. ;-]
Just bought Star Fox for 19,99 Euro preowned at Gamestop.
Since it was still there I just had to. Remember that it was the same price new at amazon, when I got my 3DS two years ago. Unfortunately I wasn't that interested and obsessed with buying games back then. And - important factor - I did not have a job back then. ^^

I have 2 3DS games and 1 DS game. So quite close to the thread topic.
Fire Emblem Awakening (109 hours - 1 playthrough)
Codename S.T.E.A.M. (4.5 hours and counting)
Advance Wars - Dark Conflict (aka Days of Ruin) (30 Hours - Stuck cold on final level)

This thread is intimidating...
Based in the games you're playing I'm going to suggest Ghost Recon Shadow Wars and Devil Survivor Overclocked. Both excellent games in that genre.

I've bought quite a few games this generation and if I include downloaded retail games, I have more 3DS and Wii U games than DSL and Wii. Although I don't have as many beaten.

Sorry I was informing that to everyone.

Because now my count is 37 3DS games (bought Lords of Magna since creating this thread)... and 54 DS games. Decided to pick up another 18-in-1 case and expand my collection of DS games.
So still a ways to go for 3DS to catch up to DS, but I'm sure it will!
