Update: Now I have 54 DS games, so this is no longer true. Updated list of currently announced games to buy.
Update 2: Including eShop and DSiWare, my 3DS library is now larger than my DS library at 66 vs 56, so the thread title is correct again.

Ok, kind of boring for a thread topic I suppose. I'm logging this under mildly interesting.

Yesterday, I bought Story of Seasons and it is my 36th retail 3DS game, matching my lifetime total of 36 DS games. Given how fantastic the DS library is and that my 3DS collection is still a work in progress, I think this is testament to how great I think the 3DS is. It's easily my favorite handheld ever.

Currently owned 3DS games:

03. Mario Golf World Tour
04. Mario Tennis Open
05. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
06. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

19. Kirby Triple Deluxe
20. Star Fox 64 3D
21. Ultimate NES Remix
22. Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan
23. Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl
24. Etrian Odyssey Untold II: Knight of Fafnir
25. Etrian Mystery Dungeon
26. Shin Megami Tensei IV
27. SMT: Devil Survivor: Overclocked
28. SMT: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker
29. SMT: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers
30. Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth
31. Bravely Default
32. Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Curtain Call
33. Fantasy Life

48. Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars
49. Senran Kagura Burst
50. Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson
51. Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX

Currently announced games that I'm planning on buying:

That's a beautiful library. But you're missing Kingdom Hearts 3D. My 3DS library would be big like yours but I'm really focusing on expanding my Wii U library now.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I have about as many 3DS games as you (little less), and at the rate things are going I'll have about as many 3DS games as DS games...probably never. I have more DS games than any other handheld (80 total, 87 if you count my brother's games, which he gave me), and there are still a handfull left that I want, whereas I have almost all the 3DS games I want that are currently out, and the amount of games coming out that I'm interested in seems to be decreasing rather than increasing. The Vita seems to have more games that partain to my interest this gen...though I'm quite behind on that collection (I got 22, but there's stiil 6 games I want that are out and a bunch on the way).

Not crazy about Kingdom Hearts, but I did pick up the PS3 HD remixes on the cheap in case I ever want to get into it. Besides, I'm collecting digitally this gen. Dream Drop Distance isn't on the eShop. Neither are Samurai Warriors Chronicles, Tales of the Abyss, or Dead or Alive Dimensions, all three of which I would buy.

The memory card issue is really limiting what I'm buying on Vita right now... I have 16 Vita games right now, and those along with 10 PS1 and 9 PSP games almost take up a full 64gb card. Saving a bit of room for Ultimate Despair Girls and Trails in the Sky 2, but I dunno what happens after that. I don't care if it costs $150, I really need Sony to release a 128gb card so that I can keep building that collection too. Vita is a great machine.

My 3DS collection is nowhere near my DS collection at all, but that mostly reflects my buying habits in recent years.

To note, the reason why my DS library is relatively small is that I didn't start collecting DS games until 2012 (I've stated before elsewhere that I was firmly a Sony gamer from about 2001-2011) and as a result my DS collection isn't very diverse. By the time I started collecting DS games, 3DS was already out and newer iterations of several games were available. I mean, why buy Mario Kart DS when I already have Mario Kart 7, right?

24 DS games are JRPGs
6 are action-adventure (3 of which have RPG elements)
4 games are VNs/puzzles
The last 2 are Advance Wars

I have 66 PS3 games, and I'm sure not going to argue that the PS3 library is better than the DS library. That's just where my gaming interests were at the time.

Eh, well my PS3 total is pretty fluid. I mean, is Ratchet & Clank Collection one game or three? Does Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection even count at all? Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection is 2 discs of 8 games from 4 different platforms, two of those just being PSN download codes, so I dunno. 66 is just the number of PS3 discs in my CD wallet (MGS being the only "game" on more than one disc).

I have way more 3DS games than DS games. I always felt as if the DS just didn't have anything I really liked on it. Of course, that might be due to growing up and expanding to new types of games around the time that the 3DS came out. If younger me had Animal Crossing Wild World, he probably would've played the crap out of it.

Boy that's a good library of games but sad to say I beat you in both category of games like example I have around 50 3DS games and 80 something in ds games.

Don't be sad. I only buy games that interest me. If there were 50 3DS games that interested me, I would own 50 3DS games. Congrats on having so many games to capture your interest.

Not a bad library. While we're on the subject, I think I'll count how many games I have.
24 DS games (I'll only name a few ones though)
Assassin's Creed 2: Discovery
Lock's Quest
Age of Empires: The Age of Kings
Transformers :Autobots/Deceptions
Rune Factory 1/2
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
Lock's Quest
Nostalgia
7 3DS games.
Rune Factory 4
Shinobi
Fire Emblem
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars
Samurai Warriors: Chronicles

Dang, I didn't realize how few 3DS games I have, I still love the system though, and I'm not sure if I like the DS or 3DS more to be honest.
I'll tally up a few other system libraries too since it's been brought up.
PS3- 44 (not including downloads)
PS4- 8 (not including downloads)
Wii U- 5 (including Nintendoland)
I'd say the PS3 is my favorite right now, and the numbers do reflect it.

Monster Hunter, that is all. Seriously 3 & 4 U are two of the best (combat-centric) ARPGs ever made.

Also have 3U on Wii U! Been considering picking up 4, but I'm just not sure I can afford it time-wise. I don't have 100 spare hours per month to play it.

That is the consideration. If I were you I'd start with 4U, as it's a much more friendly game all around. That and don't try to rush it. MH works great as a casual, hour here and there, kind of game. There's really no story to remember so there's no need to rush it, it'll just last a long while (basically infinitely.)

Damn, and I thought nobody could top my 3DS library, but I got to say you have a amazing library of 3DS games. I still trying to get some of the older 3DS games since I barely used it for a long time. Still missing OOT3D, Starfox 64, Super Mario 3D Land (I lost my old copy because I stopped playing it for a while and didn't have a place to put my 3DS games at the time), and LBW.
