Topic: anyone planning on trading their ds towards a 3ds?

Had I a DS or DS Lite, I would keep it. Since I have a DSi, I'll be looking to trade it in for the 3DS, which replaces the DSi in every possible way imaginable. Luckily I didn't buy hardly any DSiWare. Of course I first need to be sure that the 3DS will do everything the DSi does. Camera, Web, Music with the lid closed, competent DS emulation, etc.

Nope. I have a lot of DSiWare on my DSi, and I'd rather keep that than give it away with my DSi. If the 3DS allows DSiWare transfer, I might sell or give away my DSi, but more likely it will find a place in my box of old handheld stuff and random junk.

I'm pretty okay.

Waveboy: I only get rid of the systems when the next one also runs all the same stuff, or I keep it so I really haven't lost any money as I've kept the games, got newer hardware that plays old and new. I get your point though as I see a lot of morons that see a system on the horizon, then go into Gamestop and get baked on like $1000 in games/system and end up with like $150-200 in credit from their amazing generosity of their scummy system.

If I can transfer my DSiWare, then yes. If I can't, then I won't even think about it because I have spent over $50 on the DSi Shop. Also, half the time I'm on my DSi I'm playing DSiWare games. Praying for a DSiWare trasfer method

If there's a good trade-in deal for then yeah I'll trade in my DSi. Otherwise, I'll probably sell it on Ebay for money towards the 3DS.

Nope. The DS is still a great way to play my GBA games.

its just they underestimate handhelds like no handheld zelda game is 3-d and it dose look good but i know that that will happen plus i just brought a dsi so even if i do want it im going to make sure i dont buy one for like 2 years

I might buy one down the road but I wont trade in my DS for it. I still have the original DS and the main reason is so I can play my GBA games. If I do trade my DS in it would be for a DS lite but to me the DS lite seems flimsy compared to the original DS.

@ McCoy

I understand what you mean, myself I like to wait a year when new hardware comes out, wait tell the price drops, and a decent library of games are out on the market. I'm broke most the time so I like to get things as cheaply as I can.

@Double Sunday.

Don't trade it your DSi unless you have to absolutely have a 3DS and can't afford to get one any other way. I used to trade in my stuff back in my younger days, and I regret every bit of it. If only I had every system, and every game I ever bought. Now I'm having a hard time finding stuff I once owned and also all the things I missed out on.

i cant really see myself playing my dsi since the 3ds will be backwards capatible but what about all the the games i downloaded. What would you do?

I'm not planning on trading my DS phat or DSi I plan on keeping all of them as a collector's, plus I have friends who don't have a DS so when they come we will have a DS party together. I would say keep your DSi and don't trade it, its a waste to trade cause your getting less money. That's my point of view.

Nicely writen, that's the best post I've read so far! That's the samething my brother does everytime something is released he goes and trades a system or more and he just perchassed the system.

Depends on the price, I like my ds because of the gba slot, without it you wouldn't be able to catch certain pokemon in pokemon diamond/pearl or soulsilver/heartgold. Not to mention you wouldn't be able to use the palpark at all. And anyway like previous posters said it's nice to play gba games on the ds.

They wouldn't accept my first ds because it lost a part of the hinge.
And I would never give away my dsi it's got $100.00 worth dsiware

If you don't want your DSi sell it on Ebay. You would get more money from it than trading.

Depends what it goes for, JadeGirl. I, personally, don't want to sell my DSi cos I quite like my DSiWare (especially AlphaBounce and 3D Space Tank) but if I'm short on da moneys, I guess I'm gonna have to.

I also enjoy my DSi, I love Mario March of the Minis. If your still with your parents get them to bet on you spelling a word figuring out what a word means and they bet a high price like 500$ or 1000$ and thats how you can buy your 3DS, thats how I'm buying my 3DS, my dad told me to figure out what was the word for grapes in french and I answered and got it right and I won 50$. Then my mom came home from work and I asked her to give a word to spell and it was Chihuahua she bet 1000$ and I started spelling and she was surprised I knew that so she stopped me before I could finish and so I only got 500$. So thats a good way of earning money I spent most of it, but thats what I'm going to buy my 3DS with. Lol I hope this works for you guys.
