Topic: Anyone else opposed to Senran Kagura?

I understand where you're coming from, and I appreciate your honest and respectful response. For what it's worth, the person who started this thread wasn't me, and he(assuming it's a he) asked what we thought about it. So I shared what I thought about it. And what I thought it could lead into. That's all. You see it how you see it, and I see it how I see it. We can agree to disagree.

@mikeymaster2001 Actually, burden of proof always lies with the person bringing the charges. The accuser. That's you. You have charged video games with being morally corrupting, but have not offered sufficient evidence in supporting this claim. There is nothing to debunk.

Okay, as a teenager AND an owner of Senran Kagura Burst, I feel like I need to voice my opinion on this. SKB is a VERY fanservicey game, and that can bother people, and it even bothers me. But, do I like the characters because of there voluptuous figures. No. Although there designs may be viewed as degrading, the actual characters are some of the most powerful and independent women in any game I have ever played. Contrary to the belief of people who haven't played the game, there is more to it than T&A. It's an incredibly solid brawler with a virtual cornucopia of content. So, since I like 2D brawlers and view SKB as one of the best entries in the genre, I guess, according to some people on this thread, I should believe that women are just objects, and I should be addicted to porn. I treat women with as much respect, if not more, as men, and last time I checked, I am not a porn addict. I guess that other people know me better than I do. Well... they do not. It's up to each individual person to determine what they view as morally right ad wrong. That's why humans possess a little thing called free will. People who impose their beliefs onto others drive me nuts, and force me to argue. I derive no pleasure from arguing and just want my opinion to be heard. If you want to rant at me, fine. If you don't, that's fine too. Just don't assume you know every teenager better than they do. They CAN develop their own morals and, for the most part, choose what is and isn't for them.

I was not talking about that. I expressed my opinion on that matter. Not documented facts. Opinion. I was referring to the abundance of social science references on the website. Facts. Sources. And no I did not throw out a sweeping argument that video games are morally corrupting. I said that I THOUGHT that something like this could help lead into something worse. Everyone seems so interested in misunderstanding what I'm actually trying to say.

That's fine. You have your beliefs and I have mine. And I did not equilaterally label people who play this game as being porn addicts. If you read what I said, I said that it could help lead to something more hard. I did not make any judgement calls on anyone or any group. If it came across that way, please understand that is not how I meant it.

And by the way, that's my fave character from my favorite Zelda game.....thumbs up.

And this is an assumption you have made. It is not based in fact. This is what we're trying to tell you. You're free to think whatever damning things you want about people who enjoy this game, but it's not coming from a place of scientific, peer-evaluated pursuit. It's coming from a place of prejudice. Your intolerance of this type of game extends so far that you're willing to use it as a scapegoat for poor mental health, and I find that disturbing.

Did you even read about what I wrote about misunderstanding what I was trying to say?! I KNOW it's not based on fact, it's based on personal experience and how that experience helps shape my opinion....just like everyone else. And how do you know it was out of prejudice? Do you know what's in my heart and mind when I write? And I never said a single damning thing at all about anyone. How many times do I have to say that. If it came across that way, then that is not how I meant it. This most recent response from you is full of character judgments that are YOUR assumptions. Apparently my saying that I think games like this can help open the door to harder stuff is hate speech. It's not. Now your using me as a scapegoat for your judgments of my character based upon how you interpreted what I said.

Honestly, if we are just gonna keep going in circles, I'll just disengage from this thread now. I said what I think about this subject, and you have said what you think. We can agree to disagree. Without deliberately misrepresenting our sparring partners' point of view.

A fact is considered indisputable and supported by scientifically tested evidence, you have none of that, you posted only a website that supported your opinion. That site has no scientific evidence presented, the burden of proof is on you, you made the claim that it was valid, I ask for the evidence supporting it. I made no claim, I simply dismissed the website's claims due to lacking evidence, and thus, by-proxy, your claim of it being a valid source. You took it as a personal attack on you, which if that is your source then it would be a dismissal of you, not an attack. Thus, I pointed out that you sound immature in this matter, which is accurate considering your reactions. But the most important thing is: you carry the burden of proof for your claim.

So here's what I'm not getting then.

You agreed with the OP's moral outrage at this game, citing that your friend struggled with a porn addiction and that it could happen to any weak-willed teenager. You clearly believe that your anecdote is relevant, or you wouldn't bring it up. Lust is dangerous, in your opinion borne of personal experience. So what then? What should happen to this game and games like it? Should it be removed because mentally imbalanced teenagers exist in the world? Should we remove consumer access to any potentially offensive content?

Or would you find your opinion more in line with the reasoning that the game's rating and parental oversight should be sufficient in ensuring that this game falls into appropriate hands?

Because if you're going to agree with a morally outraged OP and state your opposition to such material, you have to consider what the implications of that are.

Do you or do you not believe that Senran Kagura Burst is morally reprehensible and that Xseed's publication of it in the West is not only irresponsible, but a gross neglect of Western cultural values?

I can see why NL doesn't have many female user, everyone here is pretty sexually offensive. And that's usually my job. u_u
If this is your type of thing, then it's ok, just keep it to yourself, and stop forcing it down other people necks, because we all know why you like it

What pisses me off about it are the people who can't control themselves. Regardless what content may be showcased in a game, this is still a family-friendly website and there's always someone posting inappropriate comments about which character(s) they'll be (ahem) thinking about that night while doing other things, comments about breasts and sexual acts, hell I even had to edit out a comment the other day regarding a sex toy as a potential preorder bonus. It's obscene, guys, and it falls under 'Unacceptable Content'.

People saying to just ignore the game, that I don't have to pay attention or play the game at all, this would be the case in a perfect world but alas, but I still have to deal with the idiocy surrounding it, and so do others who aren't fans of the content or genre. That's what i'd imagine a lot of us get upset over — i distinctly remember having to edit out a discussion between some of our younger users in the original Senran Kagura thread on the forums that consisted largely of masturbational onomatopoeia and estimations regarding Kleenex and lotion consumption in their respective households before and after the game's release. That's why i put my foot down in the early pages of that thread; this is is not the sort of discussion we aim to foster here at the Nlife Network.

In short, you can say you control yourselves adequately, but are you really attempting to maturely discuss the game or are you posting for the sole purpose of saying something disgustingly lewd? If it's the latter, you may want to reconsider your idea of 'self-control'.

@ theblackdragon: I agree. This is a family friendly website, I don't see why it can be such a difficult concept for some folks to understand... I curse and talk about all kinds of inappropriate things all the time outside of this site, but I reign it all in on Nintendo Life and around people who don't want to hear it. It's common courtesy.

As for people being opposed to Senran Kagura... I don't know why you would be. From what I understand, it's a solid fighter that mostly revolves around massive amounts of fan service. There's a market for that, and not every game has to be completely serious and high brow and artsy. I'm probably going to be getting the first one sometime soon since I like this kind of thing, does that somehow negate or diminish my enjoyment of higher brow games like Zelda or Mario or Half Life? I don't believe that it does at all.

When this thread deteriorated into trying to force @mikeymaster2001 to stop seeing things the way he did, it was pretty sad.
My earlier points were directed towards the Original Poster, who made it sound as if people who could find enjoyment with the game were morally numb.
@mikeymaster2001 only expressed his negative thoughts in the game's content. As he stated, he never pointed fingers or labeled anyone here.
