Looking for something to wet my racing appetite, I don't really cares it's very arcade-like or somewhat realistic. Outside of two titles listed above, surely I am missing something from the Eshop or retail.
This is the million dollar question. :/
I too wish there was something else. I've resorted (well, maybe not "resorted", but you get the idea) to TrackMania DS to feed my racing craving...
There are NO solid racing games on 3DS. I have only NFS: The Run and I warn you - DO NOT BUY THAT! It's a piece of crap. It's cheap but not worth your time...
Actually this is funny, everybody speaks about that amazing library 3DS has but if you look at it - there are no racing games with real cars, there are no FPS, no point'n click adventures, very few strategy games (FE:A and Ghost Recon). There are just lots of PLATFORMING games, couple of fighting games and few action games. That's all.

Different machines are better at representing different genres. What the 3DS lacks in racers and FPS it makes up for with a huge number of awesome JRPGs, life sim, and platformer games. No other contemporary machine has experiences like Pokemon X/Y, Rune Factory 4, Animal Crossing, SMTIV, Bravely Default, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Professor Layton, Ace Attorney, etc. etc. etc. The fact of the matter is that, aside from a few genres, the 3DS has a superb and moderately diverse library for a handheld system its age. In fact, I would argue that the diversity of experiences on 3DS right now is greater than what you could have experienced on any of the last gen home consoles when they were around the same age.
Of course, you have to be realistic. The 3DS is never going to be running Skyrim, and probably isn't powerful enough to adequately run a realistic modern racer like Gran Turismo. It also isn't really well-designed for FPS. That doesn't mean the 3DS has a poor library, it just means, like all consoles, it has some limitations that should be taken into consideration. The statement "There are just lots of PLATFORMING games, couple of fighting games and few action games" might have been true in its first year of life, but it is clearly false now, and you are either ignorant or willfully blind to its strengths as a platform if you still insist on the veracity of that comment.
Ralizah - NDS has plenty of point'n click adventures and far more strategy games. 3DS is a successor so I didn't think it will completely ignore these genres.

@Ralizah well i dont see why the 3DS couldnt handle a more realsitic racing game. the ps1 had realstic racing games so why not the 3DS? sure there won't be a super realistic racing simulation but the 3DS can handle something more realistic than mario kart or ridge racer.
racing games really benefit from the 3D. it's a world difference

A few things I'd like to point out:
1) NDS didn't have that many instances of either genre. The biggest omission by far on the strategy front has been another Advance Wars game, and that is by no means off the table. It just hasn't happened yet.
2) The biggest adventure game-ish series have carried over to 3DS, the style has just changed to adapt to hardware improvements. We still have Zero Escape, Layton, and Ace Attorney.
3) The 3DS is still young. Only about 3. It;s not going to have as fully featured a library as the NDS, which has run its complete life-span by now.
To be fair, I understand that it's not perfect. There are certain aspects of the DS era I wish would carry over as well. The biggest loss for me will be another superb 2D Castlevania. Pretty sure OoE is the last great 2D Castlevania game we'll see for quite some time. The absence of another Advance Wars is also troubling to me, although FE:A has somewhat made up for that. And I have a hard time imagining games like The Dark Spire coming out these days.
But the 3DS is still a superb handheld... perhaps Ninty's greatest. Enjoy the awesome games we do have for it, and let's hope for an even brighter future.

I guess it could. 3DS IS getting games like ATV Wild Ride. Nintendo isn't really known for releasing realistic racers on its systems, though, and I'm pretty sure any of those have gone to the home consoles. Most 3DS games have lower frame-rates, though, and the graphics are often somewhat jaggy. I don't know if there is even a market for a BIG realistic racing release ala Gran Turismo.
I still really hope for TrackMania on 3DS... it was so good on the DS, it would be even better on 3DS... but Ubisoft these days... I'll just have to settle for PC with TrackMania2... :/
I too wish there were more racing games on the 3DS. I've been saying it needs more for years. The goods one are Mario Kart7 and Ridge Racer. However some notable ones are Sonic Sega Allstars Transformed, Asphalt3D, ATV Wild Ride, SnowMoto Racing, AquaMoto Racing, Super Hang On, and a few DSI racers like NFS NitroX. NFS The Run was horrible and Spy Hunter for the 3DS isn't technically a racer so I'd say no to that.
Saving the world 1 game at a time
Some of my fav franchises- F-zero Mario Kart Monster Hunter, Pokemon Waverace 1080 Extreme-G Metroid Resident Evil
3DS FC: 5198 3400 1425 (add me!)
PKM FC 1507 3524 8824
WiiU Nintendo ID: NINTEX
Family Kart 3D is a decent arcade style racer, from what I understand (it doesn't have competitive online, but it does have leaderboards). Of course, ATV Wild Ride 3D seems to be the most recommended eShop racing experience.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
