Not really. I've been expecting a redesign since I bought the original. I'm very happy over the 3DS XL, looks a lot nicer than the original and I will upgrade.

I have a cynical suspicion that many of the "mad" early adopters would have been equally mad if these had released in reverse order, with the XL model being the original 3DS and the "glossy! more portable! pocket-friendly! cradle included! metallic stylus!" model just arriving now.

I'm only angry because A) I got one of the 3DS's that has the bottom screen scratching the top when you close it and B) We were essentially promised that there would be no 3DS upgrade for at least a couple years.
If I could send in my 3DS for free (because it's a design flaw) and get it fixed I would be completely fine.

You can send it in, it is covered by the warranty. I sent mine in and they correlated it for free with all my data in tact. But your warranty might have expired by now its a full year of coverage. Its your fault if you let that expire and did nothing.

WHAT? I thought you played it? The 3D Effect is okay but there's really nothing special about the game. That is, unless you like submarines/submarine games.

Peopel are getting mad over the plastic look but in the different colours it gets more and more good looking!

Nope, no anger.
A bit of disappointment, at the prospect that they could have broken the cycle of expecting redesigns if they didn't make the 3DS XL. Some of the market just decides to wait for the redesigns, but if you could extend the typical wait to at least over 2 years, I think a large chunk of that audience would stop finding it worth the wait.
But, I can understand this move. The 3DS is selling great. The Wii U......isn't a sure thing. So by rolling out the redesign, in combination with the rest of the year's games, it will have a stand-out year that could prop up the company in the face of the Wii U failing for the time being.
