Topic: Any interest still in Kid Icarus: Uprising?

I got this game back in October 2012 and I have been playing it off and on ever since. I really enjoy the unique gameplay structure it takes with the air-battles preceding the land battles. The game is very cinematic, which is very cool to see in a Nintendo game. the voice acting is top-notch, I often find myself cracking up at the dialogue! More than anything I really enjoy the "classic Nintendo" feel it has. With the varying difficulty and weapons system, and the ultimate goal of collecting hearts based on how much you risk is something that is hard to describe as anything but Nintendo. It is new, refreshing and visually stunning while also having a retro feel that I think most people don't realize or care about anymore. Nintendo makes games their own way, and KI:U

I am disappointed to find that the hype for this game really died out after a while. Once you do get past the control scheme (which I admit is difficult to get used to), there is so much more to do and see in the game than what is apparent at first glance. It is incredibly well made, with a high production value that lives up to its predecessors in the Super Smash Bros series in many ways. Many games feature the collection of hidden items and secrets, but this game does it better than almost any I've ever seen. It constantly teases you with Palutena challenges, and you just know there are some levels that you could explore more fully to find some secret new items. The weapon-collection is also very addicting.... I am always looking for a weapon that is just a little better than the one I'm using, or which weapon is better suited to a certain level. I feel like I never have enough hearts for the weapons that I want, but the crafting system really helps me find interesting new ways to fight the Underworld Army!

So come on guys, give this game some love. I have really wondered why the attention for this game died out so quickly. It is huge and robust, with tons of levels and excellent graphics, not to mention the deep and rewarding multiplayer mode. Though there is now a huge selection of excellent games in the 3DS library, Kid Icarus: Uprising should continue to be remembered as one of the best first-party releases that Nintendo has made in this decade.

I love the classics (Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon), games that break the mold (Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing, Fez, Smash Bros) and games with a powerful and captivating story (Metal Gear, Dead Space, Fallout 3).

This is indeed an awesome game. I don't believe the love for Uprising has died out, it's one of the titles that always gets mentioned as a top 3ds game. I'd say maybe only Animal Crossing NL and Fire Emblem Awakening have a larger following than KI: Uprising

This proves how good of a designer Sakurai is, i wish he would just reasemble team sora and make something mindblowing on the WiiU lets all just get over Smash Bros. shall we(i have personally played it twice over for gamecube and Wii and second time round the love just wasn't there) or at least get someone else to make it. Its hardly a series based on innovation now is it but uprising was awesome realy unique and gamey in the best way imaginable.

Don't worry, it's just that on the internet, only what's new RIGHT NOW! is what gets the attention, and after a few weeks of release, discussion of any particular title dies down in favor of the next big thing.

The Spotpass weapon swapping thread seems to be constantly active, and as others have said, the game is always getting mentioned as one of the 3DS' best from this community, so I wouldn't say it's forgotten.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I'm still fairly active on Kid Icarus, although New Leaf takes a huge chunk of my day now. It's an on and off thing for me.
@RR529 Mentioned the Spotpass Weapon Thread, which has a link in my sig. But we don't swap Gems, because that's impossible. xD There's also a pretty much dead chatroom.
I also think this game deserved more recognition, especially in sales. While I at least don't know the exact sales, I'd bet money that FE:A, SM3DL, MK7 and others have sold a lot more. It was probably the many, many reviews complaining about the control scheme.

Just because people don't talk about it as much doesn't mean it's no longer relevant. Ok. in some cases it is. Some people move on to other stuff, some people don't have enough time, etc. Hit me up for a match anytime.

Believe it or not, I started the spotpass weapon thread over a year ago, 15 months, and 5 days ago(sad I know that after a few seconds of thinking), and we just reached our 12,001 post, and it has been done by a group of active NL members, myself included, of under 30 people. I say we have about 10 active people right now, with the past ~20 being a critical part of the thread for few months.

Yeah, I still do and I'm one of the members of the Spotpass Weapon Thread. Back when Gems were provided, the place was booming. It was practically a hobby for me. It's still like my 'home' thread. Sure, I don't play as often but it's still a fantastic game and I still go to Skyworld for a few hours on occasion. And hey, Pit's getting recognition from the get-go in Smash Bros. 4. So, it's all good.

Besides, I don't have a Viridi avatar for nothing, y'know!

Certainly one of the best games of this generation. I kinda burned out on the game after 100+ hours but I'm sure when I feel like playing again that I'll be hooked again.

It's great to see that there's still some love for this game! I feel like many of the big game reviewing websites didn't give it much attention because the control scheme was tough to get the hang of. There's so much to the game that some people may not see. To me the game really feels like a labor of love. It is so finely crafted and organized. I really, REALLY enjoy this game.

That said, I'm not very good at it I find I can play the earlier levels on Intensity 5 or 6, but the later ones are quite a challenge for me even on level 4. I feel like I still just haven't quite figured out the Powers and Items system, and how to use it most effectively in battle. I have some decent weapons now (Values 260-285) but I am still figuring out the crafting system and what weapons work best for which situations.

Any tips for someone trying to work their way up to harder difficulties? I am always so tempted because I want those cool new weapons, but I risk losing lots of hearts if I lose. I am only on Chapter 11 however, so I will probably get much better by just playing more.

I love the classics (Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon), games that break the mold (Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing, Fez, Smash Bros) and games with a powerful and captivating story (Metal Gear, Dead Space, Fallout 3).

I haven't really gotten around to playing that much, but I do like what I played. It's always in my 3DS, but I have alot of downloaded stuff as well, so it's not the onky game on my system.
I'll get around to playing it, but I was surprised the CPP XL was only an option for south paws. I was expecting dual analog. Not a let down though.

All three Smashes had very distinct physics, and each expanded on the content of the previous entry dramatically. They're each unique, which is more than most sequels can claim. Not every game can be pure originality or mindblowing, and it's too much to expect one designer to always do something brand new and never done before. Hopefully if this new Smash is indeed as close to Brawl as it looks that will mean they have settled on a formula and can leave the game in someone else's hands in the future, but I worry about who could do the series justice without Sakurai. This is not the kind of game Nintendo makes.

But Sakurai is independent, so if he chose to come back to the series, it's because he thinks he can do something new. I would love to see an Uprising sequel on Wii U, and I'm interested to see what else he can come up with down the line, but I'm happy to get another Smash in the mean time.

More directly on topic: I still think Uprising is the best 3DS game... but I sold it when people here quit playing. Kind of regretting that now as I met someone locally who likes it and quit playing for the same reason but still has the game. Might have to repurchase it someday but I wish I knew if they were planning to make it available to download, as that would be more convenient for me.

Kid Icarus: Uprising isn't necessarily dead, it's just that more people are hyped up for Animal Crossing: New Leaf because it recently came out. Give the game a few months and I'm sure more people will be playing online again.
