It would be a waste of money.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

Def won't be getting a 3DS XL. A bigger screen isn't worth 200 dollars. The colors are fine and vibrant enough as they are.

If Nintendo had upgraded the 1.5 mega(lame)pixel cameras to 8 gig (which is pretty standard on all iphones/androids) and....
If Nintendo had added a second circle pad......that would be incentive to upgrade.
The placement of the stylus and headphone jack is really nitpicking and not worth throwing away your hard earned money.

Also......the one hour and change extra battery life is pretty laughable imo.

It still baffles me as to why they put the stylus in the back for the 3DS. What were they thinking?

How many times do we have to repeat ourselves? The 3DS is jam-packed with so much hardware that the back of the system was the only place they could fit it. And even then they had to make it stereoscopic so it could fit.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Have a source for that?

I prefer the stylus in back . On my dsi, my stylus kept falling out of the side regardless of the stylus I put in. I use my bulky, broken down, old generation 1 ds over that.

If Nintendo had upgraded the 1.5 mega(lame)pixel cameras to 8 gig

this would have broken the installed user base, basically creating a new platform. Not a good idea at all at this moment in time. Better camera's will have to wait to the 4DS or whatever they will call it.

I won't be getting an XL. I very much enjoy my Zelda 25th Anniversary 3DS that I got on Black Friday last year

As for the source, don't have one, sorry.

Still thinking about it. The current design is much more stylish and cooler, but the bigger screen and battery life is VERY tempting.

I'll just wait until an actual 3DS upgrade/date/whatever you wanna call it.

@TeeJay I've never lost a stylus on my original DS but when I got my DSi I went through at least ten. I just wish the 3ds stylus was as easy to take out as the original.

If anything bad happens to my 3DS, I'll get another 3DS. If anything bad happens to that one, I'll get yet another 3DS. If anything bad happens to the third 3DS, I'll get the 3DS XL because I clearly need a bigger system to hold on to.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.

I am not getting the 3DSXL either. For one reason I am still perfectly happy with my 3DS so I dont see the need or point of changing. Now if they had a built in second circle pad on the 3DSXL than I would have bought it no thinking about it. Also I dont like the paint jobs on the 3DSXL I thought the 3DS with the nice shiny paint was alot better. And probably the most important reason I rather spend that $200 for a 3DSXL on the awesome games that are either out now or coming out like Heroes of Ruin, Epic Mickey 2, and Mirror of Fate. Now if something were to happen to my 3DS than I would get the 3DSXL but for now I just dont see the need to.

3DS XL FTW! The larger screens, longer battery life, and the matte finish have convinced me enough to exchange my old, dirty, scratched up 3DS for a nice 3DS XL. Though the 3DS XL may not be as attractive, it's not that important. Once the system transfer is complete, I will then sell my old 3DS for all I can get out of it. It may be a $200 upgrade, but it just seems more suitable for me. I also don't plan on buying a Wii U which will save me a quite of bit to save up for more 3DS games instead. I know it may seem like "a waste of money" to some, but to me, this is an exceptional system that I will buy on August 19.

Don't you have to actually buy the 3DS XL first so you can do a System Transfer and then sell your 3DS for as much as you can?

I will only get an XL if the falling happens to my current one.
1. It some how breaks, blows up, the battery dies from being charged to much, etc.
2. An amazing bundle comes out and I some how have the money for it.
So right now changes of me getting one look very slim to none.

Unless my current 3DS breaks, I won't be getting an XL. It's almost $200, and that's a lot of money to spend just for the sake of a larger screen. There are other various small upgrades (slightly different button arrangement), but they aren't large enough to be a determining factor in a purchase (it's not like it's different enough to give XL users an advantage during gameplay).

I will admit the larger battery would be nice, but I'm fine with my current 3DS's life for the time being.

Also, I find it a tad silly that some are classifying the matte finish as some sort of technical improvement. It doesn't affect gameplay, graphics, system performance, or user interface in any way. You may happen to prefer the matte finish (and that does seem to be the popular opinion), that's fine, but the change doesn't improve the system in any technical way. It's a pure change of vanity, and whether it's an "improvement" or not, is completely up to individual preferance.

With all that said, I hope you all have fun with your 3DS, no matter what model you choose to purchase.

Matte is a better grip instead of it feeling slippy peepy. Same for the buttons, it has a different feel and makes the slider pad firmer.. Fingerprints aren't as noticeable, less time me wiping the 3DS more time me playing.
