I'm not going to pay $50 for a game that's going to be $30 or lower within a year. Atlus has put this upon themselves

I haven't played any Atlus 3DS games and I keep see them going on sale. I am just waiting for 1 of them to hit $10 or so for me to jump

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

If you like RPGs, they're easily the best non-first party Nintendo games on the system.

Currently Playing: Advance Wars 1 + 2: Re- Boot Camp (NS)

Oddly enough I prefer almost all my 3rd party games to first party on the 3ds. With games like Ghost Recon Shadow Wars, Monster Hunter series, Resident Evil Revelations, Bravely Default, Theheatrhythm, and just about any Atlus game I wouldn't need many first party games. The ones I really like though are Luigi's Mansion 2, Kid Icarus, and Fantasy Life.

Keep in mind that great (and arguable much better) games like Zelda, Mario, Fire Emblem, etc all went for $40. Not to say Persona Q is bad, it's just absurd how much Atlus is tyring to get away with nowadays. I had a bad feeling this kind of stuff (along with BS DLC) would happenab when Sega bought Atlus. I don't want to be too doom and gloom because $10 more for games isn't the end of the world, but heck, this is the internet:

YOU RUINED ATLUS, SEGA!!!!!11(catface)(Heart wth and slash in the middle). SQUARE ENIX KILLED MY CHILDHOOD AND NOW YOU'RE MAKING ME ACT LIKE A CHILD ON THE INTERNET ABOUT ATLUS CHOICES I DON'T AGREE WITH!!!!(exclamation point X1,000,000)

OK, to be honest though this seems like a choice that could easily lead to EA/Cacpcom/Sqaure Enix nickel and diming, which was something I would have never expected from Atlus.

You also have to keep in mind that Atlus' games usually comes with goodies to make the premium price seem warranted (in this case the tarot cards which I see selling at a minimum of $10 on eBay). And honestly, the quality of there games make the premium price feel well worth it anyway. Besides, even if you don't agree with the higher starting price, Atlus always has sales (or at least that's what it seems like) on the eShop for their games in the near future.

Can't say I 100% agree with them for making their 3DS games $50 , but I don't necessarily mind since I know from experience that they make some top-notch games.

Unless it's coming with a raft of extras (which might make me more amenable to the price point), this is an absolutely insane price point.

The Record Breaker chapter supposedly doubles the game's length.

Fantasy Life is third party. Level-5 developed.

But yes, the Japanese third party support on 3DS is fantastic. My favorite first party tiltes will probably always be Fire Emblem: Awakening and Mario Kart 7 (unless Metroid finally manages to resurface). Best games in their respective genres on the system, even though I do love me some Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars.

I understand why its such a high price, the fanbase is small for such a large rpg like that but thats just my thoughts

To be fair, the digital version without any goodies is usually also $50.

Having a low demand does not validate raising the price. That's a terrible model to adopt

While I agree the other option is to create less content. So if people love the amount of content they put in these games and are willing to pay more then that is the better solution. It is probably also why their games go on sale so frequently, try to make some of their investment back.

So I tried to go to the Atlus forums to see if anyone there was as upset as a few of us here and found out they shut them down a month or 2 ago. Now that I think Sega has something to do with. I use to be somewhat active over there but that was probably 3 years ago now.

Guess i will wait to see if this 10$ plus is worth ( probably not but...), devil survivor one is way better than two so i will only get this if proves worthy.

Just saying , a 40$ game in US cost around 57$ in my country.

I probably will. For a few years I bought EVERY Atlus release on 3DS Day One to support them, because I love their games. I feel like they're just getting greedy now, though.

I hear ya! I got the physical cart of EOIV on it's release date and since then it's been on sale so many times. I'm glad they have sales on their games but it drives me crazy that I paid $39.99 for it (despite it being worth every penny).

I want to get Persona Q but it's the same price as the game you mentioned ($49.99). From seeing how frequently they run sales, I have no choice but to wait for a digital download deal!

Word. I got such a backlog of games it'll be easy to wait and grab these titles at crazy low prices.

Another Atlus game is announced, and another post with people whining about the price. My question is why? What is the point of coming here and openly announcing you're either too cheap, or too broke to purchase this? Each and every one of you has spent $50 on more disappointing experiences than what you can find in any Atlus game at one time or another. I personally think buying e-shop is a bigger waste, cause your spending $10, $20 or $30 just to have permission to have their game on your sd-card, but I certainly don't expect everything to change to suit my preference. Back when Working Designs was around, I loved their games and supported them 100%, and there were people whining then about their price because WD only released limited editions. Some genius at Sony decided to make Working Designs change things because some poor whiners couldn't afford the fancy sets, and Working Designs went under. So, you can't shell out $50 for a game? Fine. Pick up something you can afford, like Barbie's toe-nail clipping challenge or whatever bargain game you choose and try not to ruin things for everybody.

Yep and everyone here "whining" about can't afford it or is too cheap. The people complaining are dedicated Atlus fans but enough is enough with the 50$ games. I bought every single 3ds Atlus game day one except for CoP till Persona Q but enough is enough. I won't pay extra money out for brand name (franchise) price hikes. It's only happening to their most popular titles. If they were to go across the board and make all there games this price then so be it but from what I can see they're the ONLY ones doing this in the States.

@NFERNO You say cheap, I say savvy consumer. You could call me cheap for refusing to buy a Steam game unless it's on sale, but at the end of the day I have all the games I wanted in the first place (and more) and paid less for them. I don't think Atlus games are worth an extra $10, and so I'll wait until it's ~$20.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

And from what I've heard from most that have bought it, it's not worth it. I've said this numerous times before, Just the game people. Drop all the extras and just give me the game for crying out load! Don't try to justify the price with extras. The only option Atlus gives us for just the game is the eshop and then I just feel ripped off for paying the exact same price.
