Topic: ANOTHER $50 ATLUS GAME?!

I'm excited for the game, but this price inflation from Atlus is getting ridiculous. I won't buy anything new from them if they keep this up!

The price for SMTIV was that it was a main series SMT game releasing with a bunch of nice goodies. Also, if you registered it with FE:A, you got a $30 eshop credit. It was a good deal and kind of paid for itself with that promotion.

Then Persona Q was announced as a $50 title, and was justified by appealing to it being a Persona title. Fine, whatever. At least it came with some Tarot cards.

THIS, though. This is a re-release of a DS game. Unless it's coming with a raft of extras (which might make me more amenable to the price point), this is an absolutely insane price point.

Just wait for it to go on sale on the eShop. Atlus has them all the time.

I probably will. For a few years I bought EVERY Atlus release on 3DS Day One to support them, because I love their games. I feel like they're just getting greedy now, though.

I hear ya! I got the physical cart of EOIV on it's release date and since then it's been on sale so many times. I'm glad they have sales on their games but it drives me crazy that I paid $39.99 for it (despite it being worth every penny).

I want to get Persona Q but it's the same price as the game you mentioned ($49.99). From seeing how frequently they run sales, I have no choice but to wait for a digital download deal!

I don't mind sales once in a while, but frequent sales do nothing but punish early adopters. That said, as you mentioned, EOIV was worth every penny I paid for it, so I don't mind that much. Nevertheless, this price inflation is ludicrous. Especially for a game you know will run $30 or so on the eshop in a few months.

I still believe asking $50 for Persona Q was pushing it. You don't see Nintendo asking $50 for Pokemon, and you know tons of fans would pay that price for the brand alone. I don't know the numbers, but probably the sales of Q encouraged them to do this.

I refuse to buy Persona Q and I will refuse to buy this.

Anyways not very happy with this. I will not support this extra 10$ to the tune of I won't buy it till it's at least half that now. Other then CoP I have been day one on the 3ds for them with the exception of Persona Q because of this. They're not the big company that can get away with this like say if Capcom decided to go this route with MH4U.

What's sad is I want the game just not going to give Atlus any extra money I feel they don't deserve. What gets me is no matter what they give us as bonuses with the retail copy the eshop copy should not be the same 50$ I can almost justify getting for 40$ on the shop if this was the case.

Lastly if it sounds like just a bunch of American's complaining how would you like it if Atlus in your Country was the only company 10$ (or whatever the equivalent price is) more then any other 3ds title at launch!

Yep. It's either greed on Atlus' part or something to do with SEGA. Either way, I don't like it and won't support it.

It is said that there is an extra episode that doubles the length of the game. I am not to happy with it being $50 either. But maybe that's why they are justifying it being $50.

You guys are cheap. Actually video gamers have to be one of the cheapest communities. Is inflation supposed to affect everything except for video games?

And yet, here their games at full price (in the eshop) are still way cheaper than most first party games

Saw the news after I was done doing my morning duties at work and couldn't believe it! Ironically, them not being a big company like Capcom or Konami is probably why they can get away with it. Remember all of the anger when Capcom tried to make RE:Revelations a $50 game? They've gotten better about their pricing now. An HD re-release of the Resident Evil remake (comparable somewhat to this, although Capcom put more work into that) is going to be $20 on all major game markets besides Nintendo's. THAT'S how you treat fans of your series.

I understand inflation as much as anybody and if the going trend was a lot of 3ds titles started doing this then I would have to except it but Atlus is the only one doing it and I wont support it.

I am under no obligation to pay prices I feel are unfair. When EVERYONE else charges under $40 for 3DS games, then I feel I have every right to complain when Atlus decides to buck this trend. This isn't inflation of 3DS game prices in general. This is one company getting greedy.

Atlus is probably the only publisher on the e-shop with a decent sales culture, they do them all the time, the offer decent enough discounts and they don't take forever to put up newer games for sale. Just get it once it's on sale. Other than that, Persona Q looks like it's worth $50, so did SMTIV (the $30 aside, which was a pretty gr8 offer as well as promotion actually)

This Atlus thing reminds me when the Wii version of The Beatles Rock Band was $60, while all Wii games were $50.

Again, just one company being greedy and trying to squeeze the most out of a popular brand.

Going off the logic we can say Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, and what the heck I'll throw out a 3rd party as well Monster Hunter 3 U was worth 50$ but it doesn't mean I had to pay that much.

Also I would like to get these releases day one not months from now on sale. Of course it's my choice but Atlus is starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth lately. When I see these prices all I can think of is not only don't you deserve my 50$ but not 40$ now either. I'll gladly wait till it's half off now. I would be day one at 40$ but now you lost that and another 15$ for this crap.
