Seemingly much safer than the Nyko charging dock and battery pack, the Nintendo 3DS Travel Charging Dock with Rechargeable Internal Battery from CTA digital seems to be a portable dock with enough life to recharge your 3DS fully, then another 30 minutes. While it may not be as smooth and flush as the Nyko 3DS Power Pack Plus, since this after all is a charging dock with its own built in battery, those of you too squeemish to put a 3rd party battery in your 3DS can resort to just playing with the 3DS in a charging dock instead.

Thats a pretty cool looking product. I wonder what it would feel like to try and hold the 3DS with that dock attached and play. Anyways, I can't help but worry about 3rd party batteries having shorter life spans.
Stop complaining and GO PLAY GAMES.

I think it's more of a "battery running low, lets charge. Oh noez theres no electricity here, let's use our CTA Digital battery powered Charging Dock!" than a "play with the dock on" kind of thing.
but it can't enter amazon from the school, so i cant see it, so i cant tell.

I think I'd rather have this than the Nyko one, but I still doubt I'll buy this.

...Again, gonna wait for some reviews with any that comes out...I may end up getting one eventually, but I don't want to get one only to find out it breaks or doesn't work. (Nintendo should make one now...lol)
I love Erica (Strike Witches), Eureka (Eureka Seven), and Tenma (School Rumble), stay away from them. xD
Update: Also love Yukari and Mizore from Rosario + Vampire.
Another Update: Also Yuuki...from School Rumble...
Yet Another Update: Also Amber and Xiao Pai from Rune Factory 4.

I think I like the NYKO battery better (but it needs a slimmer, sleeker cradle). The idea of carrying around a rechargeable charger seems silly to me.

If I do get a battery Ill get the nyko one. CTA products tend to be really bad (aside from the DSI XL Handgrips). Ive bought their charging kit for DSi and a battery pack and they were sort of poor in quality, like Chinese Quality.

Okay is NYKO a good or bad brand? I'm seeing some posts saying that based on their Wiimote batteries, NYKO isn't that great a company, and others saying that the NYKO wiimote batteries were great, and they prefer NYKO.
What's the deal here?

I guess it depends on the individual. Nyko is the most trust worthy third-party accessory distributor of all others (regarding Nintendo's products). I have a black Wiimote by them and it works perfectly and their nunchuk, in my opinion, is better than Nintendo's.

I think Nyko is a good brand, at least with my experience. Early on, anything can have faults, but what makes them a great company is that they will attempt to fix the problems that come up. So if there are problems with the battery early one, then I'm sure they will do their best to fix it. I'm going with the Nyko battery, but this was an info page for an alternative to those who feel uncomfortable with putting in a 3rd party battery into their 3DS.

It really depends on the product. NYKO is just as capable of putting out a crappy product as any random brand you've never heard of is capable of putting out a well-made product. I would say it is EXTREMELY rare for any 3rd party accessory brand to meet the level of quality you'd expect from a first party product, unless its a carrying case of some sort because those are difficult to mess up and Nintendo never makes anything like that anyways...

I'll probably end up picking up this or the Nyko one up eventually. Whichever one is cheaper.
I'm just glad the 3DS uses the DSi charging port, so my DSi car charger will work with my 3DS.
I'm pretty okay.

I'll just wait for the 3DSlite/3DSi when they have 10 hours of battery life, better cameras, improved sound, and a hole lot more games.

When I first saw this product posted here, I thought it looked like a good product but also that it was a bit expensive. Now I'm hearing that the Nyko battery pack costs $20 while the cradle to charge it will be sold separately for $30 (its not compatible with the official charge cradle). $30 just to get power out of your electrical outlet? I better be hearing something about this Nyko battery coming with a cable to charge with at least...
Edit: According to the press release, the $30 cradle comes with the battery pack, and the battery pack can be charged with the standard 3DS charge cable. So it's not so bad after all.

Don't get your hopes up. Despite the fact every Nintendo portable except the GameBoy Color has had an upgrade, consider that those upgrades aren't too much (i.e. GameBoy Pocket was only smaller than the original and the display's background is white instead of green), and Nintendo never follows the same pattern with upgrades. And you're going to be waiting more than two years.

Also, sorry for the double post, but does anyone know if the 3DS can be placed in the dock with the Nyko pack on? (I know, fat chance, but that thing looks pretty slim.
