Topic: Animal Crossing Gay-Friendly Friend Code Exchange

To the moderators of the board: I hope that I am allowed to create this topic. If not, my apologies and you may delete it and direct me to the correct area.

To everyone else: I'm pretty hyped about Animal Crossing coming out on Sunday. After the huge amount of support shown to the gay community during the whole Tomodachi Same-Sex Marriage article, I realized there is quite a large amount of gay-friendly nintendolife-rs. Which I'd personally like to say thanks. Anyways, I wanted to start an Animal Crossing Gay-Friendly Friend Code exchange in preparation of the game coming out. (no pun intended) So here's my code: 4511-0630-2837.

Please don't take me as being hateful, but I'm straight, and I'd find it kind of bad if someone made even a straight only friend code exchange...I'm just not so sure singling out a group of people being it gay, straight, whatever, is a very good move. I don't care if someone I'm playing the game with is gay or not.

The sad thing is the fact that some people actually do care if you are gay or not. I'm not saying you have to be gay, just gay-friendly. So that pretty much opens this group up to anyone, as long as you don't hate gay people. So I am just filtering out the hate. But I do not want to get into a gay debate. I just want a place to exchange friend codes with gay-friendly people.

oh no, I don't want to debate or anything. I'm just a little iffy on the idea of making a specific topic just for this....I don't want to come across as a butt though.

This seems like segregation; who cares about your sexual orientation when you're trading crops an doing whatever it is you do in AC?

I see the point the other commenters make, but I don't disagree with this thread. If any other LGBT&Friends mayors are around, my friend code is in my sig.

Who am I segregating? I don't care what your sexual orientation is. That's the point of this topic. It is for people that don't care what your sexual orientation is, just as long as you are friendly to all. If there was no hate in the world towards gay people than this topic wouldn't be necessary. I'm not sure I've heard of much hate towards straight people. But again, I am not trying to create a gay debate. I am also not trying to offend anyone. I am even trying to be respectful to people that hate or disagree with gay people. If you hate gay people than you do NOT have to add your friend code here and you can keep your life gay-free. But again, may we please stay on topic.

@photofool83 I just don't understand why it matters here. Unless your sexual orientation affects the gameplay drastically (and from what I understand, there is no marriage period in AC), it shouldn't matter what your sexual preferences are. So, with that said, why are you making a thread specifically for gay people?

I just added you. I'm going to be downloading it at midnight too. Also, do you have any suggestions of how I could end this thread and start a new one that will offend less people. Maybe if I start one that's titled "Equality-for-All Animal Crossing Friend Code Exchange"? Or what about "No-Hate Animal Crossing Friend Code Exchange"? Because really I don't care to invite people into my town that are racist, homophobic or hateful in any sense. I'm not trying to be some kind of advocate for all of this. I just don't care to be around that type of person, virtually or in reality. Actually, this has already gotten much deeper than I anticipated. I really just wanted to exchange some friend codes with friendly people.

I believe there is a thread already for exchanging friend codes for this game....honestly I don't think a non-hate-whatever only people will keep the haters out of it. I just don't really think it would be necessary. You're choice on what thread you make though, just suggesting.

I get what you're trying to do, but it's not necessary — unless you're trying to hook up with someone, things like age, sexual orientation, or gender have little to nothing to do with your choice in 3DS 'friends'... and if a hook-up is what you're looking for, please note that NL is not the place for that kind of thing. We've already got a bustling forum thread with users sharing their 3DS FCs in preparation for AC:NL's impending release; we encourage you (and everyone else) to be open and welcoming to everyone trading FCs for this game regardless of any labels society has attempted to thrust upon you.
