i almost wish i could afford a 3DS for this one: i enjoy the animal crossing games as a break from life.

I so am. If they incorporate the holidays like City Folk and the original, I'd be happy. And revive the whole "build you own furniture" and "visit a friend's town even if they are not online playing".

So much potential.

Hopefully it can offer more than Animal Crossing: City Folk (aka Animal Crossing: Wild World Wii) did. Animal Crossing was made more for handhelds than for consoles.

really looking foraward to this one. hope they dont just make it like all the other ones. i played ds and wii version and it was almost the same. i want more customizing in the game

I disagree with Dragon Trainer. I like Wild World, but I actually enjoyed the orignal Crossing & City Folk more because they had the holidays and it was easier to share the game with the whole family (didn't have to live in the same house either). WW had its good points (animal pictures, good dialogue), but it did not seem complete with the holidays & the seperate houses.

I do hope like 6ch6ris6, that there is more customization in the new game. I think as long as the new game has holidays, better graphics, new things to do, and takes advantage of all the 3DS features that it'll be a great game. I know that Animal Crossing won't change too much, but I do hope that they will allow a bit more freedom to be creative & include plenty of new things to do off-line & online. Crossing has so much potential and I'm hoping that the new game realizes some of the potential at least. I'm looking forward to the new Crossing 3DS a lot. Its actually the main reason I bought a 3DS.

Please be different this time Animal Crossing. Being the Mayor's a very good first step!

I loved the Wii version because I could play online and chat with friends which made it so much fun and worth playing (I couldn't play online on the DS version as I had my DSi on a higher encryption level.) So I really hope 3DS version is more like the Wii version. It would be nice if the content was different ... be nice to see SOME new items. But it probably doesn't matter to me. It's the one game that I'm really looking forward to on the 3DS.

I actually think Animal Crossing belongs on consoles. But maybe thats just me.

Just for you.

And hopefully we can explore that cave behind the waterfall in the winter. Anyone notice that, by the way?

In Wild World there a 'black' area behind the waterfall that looks like a cave of some sort.

I had this idea that maybe players could explore that in City Folk when it's winter time and the lake freezes over- use an axe to break the ice (waterfall) and in it explore and gather minerals and the like everyday. Maybe have different floors where a geyser or something will shoot you up out of the cave if you step on the 'wrong spot'. I got this idea from Harvest Moon Magical Melody and how it had a cave only accesible in Winter when the pond freezes over.

Something like that would have been cool but in the end, didn't happen to be (including the fact that City Folk did not have that 'cave' behind the Waterfall anymore).

I just hope there's areas to explore and things to do. Maybe a long trail that leads into a cave or bringing back the city in a much larger scale with arcades and whatnot. There's so much potential. It's interesting to see, however, that the ocean is now to the west. Nothing huge, but interesting.

I think StreetPass will really come into its own with Animal Crossing 3DS. Hopefully we'll see a lot more brand new features in this edition of the game. Lets Go to the City was made of 80% recycled content (great for the environment, not so good for long time gamers)

Really looking forward to this one. Hopefully they'll make it more of a new game, and less of a port with a few upgrades.

With the totally revamped graphical style of the E3 screenshots and demo trailer, it really seems like they're trying something new with this series, which is great. I was a huge fan of the first two games but ended up being disappointed by the same ol same of the Wii version, especially after all the hype of being able to make your own furniture and visit other towns even when the owner wasn't playing turned out to be untrue. I know a lot of other long time fans of the series were disappointed with City Folk (LGTTC) too so it seems like they are really going at the drawing board with this one. Can't wait to see new progress on it at E3 this year!

When I close my eyes, I see pixilated blood.

I do hope this is a true evolution for the series. there's so much they can do.

If they are gonna make the same old thing than whats the point? I love animal crossing (it was what persuaded me to get the original DS) but if they don't take this one to a new level I don't know if it's worth the time and money to get it, which would be really sad.
This mayor idea is really promising though, so I think there is a very good chance that they will surprise us in the best way possible.

I also desperately hope there's more variety with the dialogue, I don't want to hear the same conversations over and over unless I'm playing too much.
