Am I the only one kind of bugged over this?
It's only with the spotpass and DLC characters, It almost makes it hard for me to enjoy some of the awesome characters from previous Fire Emblem Games cause their ingame card looks nothing like their actual character model. I understand there are over 100 characters to make models of but I feel with the major characters from some games or even the DLC characters should have actual character models and not MU character models. Some of them are okay, but some of the major unique characters lack any sort features, like a helmet or facial hair. Like the Black Knight.
And considering we payed $6.50 for DLC packs I feel like some characters, like Ike and Roy dont even look like their character drawings. They arn't even wearing the head bands. They both look identical other then the appropriate color hair.
Like I said its not the biggest deal honestly but it makes the characters not feel as unique as they should and considering you can get them for free from spotpass it almost makes paying for the DLC kinda of pointless. Since I can recruit both Ike and Roy and they look identical to their DLC counter parts.
I haven't bought any DLC yet, but that does sound a bit lazy.
Has anyone else noticed that the drawn models are mirrored? Gaius has his candy on the left in the moving form, but has it on the right in its drawn form, Vaike has it's armor on its other arm. Strange..

@Edlicious Their battle sprites are probably similar in look because it wasn't the most important part of the design process. All you do with their sprites is move them around to attack; the real deal is in their 3D character models.
@Gioku NL did an article about their weird feet. Apparently, the devs said it had something to do with how they underestimated the 3DS' power.
There are over 100 dlc/spotpass characters, the best they could do without spending too much money or wasting time is to design them based on the MU options. Plus this game was their last ditch effort for FE so you can understand why they didn't want to put too much money and time into it; and why it was only a gigabyte.

That's what they've always done, drawing takes up a lot of time so just mirroring images saves a lot of time.
@Gioku No, when they were making the game, they thought the 3DS was a much weaker system, so to cutback on memory consumption, they made the feet (one of the least noticeable body parts) the way they are. When the game was nearing completion, they realized how much the 3DS could really handle, but it was too late to go back and change the feet.

I thought the reason they didn't "fix" the feet was that they thought it looked cute, and added charm (I believe that was mentioned in the article, as well).

Yep, sure enough they said that they weren't sure how many joints they'd be able to animate, so they cut back on the feet because there's no moves that focus on the feet, and they thought it gave the characters some charm.
When they found out that they could animate more joints than initially thought, it was too late because they'd have to reanimate every character in the game, and they figured it wasn't important (again, thinking the look was charming).
Just type in "Fire Emblem: Awakening Feet" in NL's search bar, and it's the first article to pop up.

After reading through this topic, I like how it switched from all the dlc characters being very similair, to talking about the feet. I don't really notice the feet that much. That may have to do with the 160 hours I have spent playing the game.

Well, I dunno about them being the least noticeable part... I immediately noticed it as soon as the game started... I was instantly bothered by it.
"Pay no attention to the tiny feet... they're not tiny, you just think they are..."
When I was a kid, I was learning how to draw 'The Marvel Way'. And in the book, it showed how do draw flat bottomed cylinders for arms and legs. That's what it reminds me of. Remember, I said that's my biggest beef. Not too shabby.
Yeah I totally agree, I also believe they should've added relationships for the DLC characters, and that was one of the main factors of why I didn't pick them up. I totally understand why they didn't do it for Spotpass DLC though, afterall there's plenty!
